Bubble Building Still Looking for a Home

The Port Angeles City Council has voted to postpone a decision on where to put our “free” albatross, the Bubble Building. It probably wouldn’t look right to finance a portable indoor arena for a few hockey moms while William Shore Memorial Pool — used by hundreds of residents — is in danger of closing.

Karen Rogers made the motion to postpone the decision because there are still too many unanswered questions. She said “I’m perplexed frankly why it was brought specifically to us, knowing these questions are not resolved.”

James Schouten from Friends of the Fieldhouse said all of the City Council’s questions had been answered or would soon be answered. Mayor Gary Braun then declared Schouten out of order for interrupting the City Council’s discussion.

The Bubble Building is still in storage while it waits for a home. Erickson Park is the most likely location if and when funding gets resolved. Other possible locations include Volunteer Park near the airport.

The city needs to get its priorities right! Back to basics already!

Shut down the fluoride system and the employee for that. There is $100k for the pool. We should never had had that crammed down our throat the way it was.

The city can also get rid of Officer Segway. What good does he do? There's at least four homeless people begging for spare change in the downtown area. Aren't there laws against panhandling?

I, for one, am certainly sorry to see that Julie Gardiner's lovely shoe store, McLean's is forced to close.

Although she not of old Port Angeles stock, Julie is one of the right people in Port Angeles. Along with dear Edna Petersen, Julie took the principled stand against the closing of Laurel Street and endured the pitiful slings and arrows of the motely vegetable peddlers and their leftist hooligan allies. She was strong in the face of adversity and of course she triumphed. We expected no less.

Under Julie's superior leadership, McLean's Shoes was a fashionable yet tasteful store and her employees were dedicated, humble and loyal. Her presence in the down town area will be sorely missed!

From what you say....all I can say is "GOOD RIDDANCE"
She'd probably still be IN BUSINESS if she'd let the farmers market continue on Laurel.
The joke is....every town in America know that farmers markets BRING BUSINESS to downtown....too bad some people in this town are too stooopid to survive in business.
As for "lovely Edna" hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

what does "Although she not of old Port Angeles stock" mean?
So her father isn't also her brother? Does that mean her uncle is also her grandfather? I'm sorry, but from the looks of some of the old stock...a bunch of fat-assed early breeders (an old maid if not pregnant by 15) and dumber than rotting wood, isn't much to be proud of.
I mean, look at this town. You let the railroad tracks get taken out (what a dream a train would be between here and Port Townsend!), but meanwhile allowed the ugliest motel/hotel to be constructed (Red Lion). You pushed the backroom deals over the benefit of the town. Half (or more) of your fine "old stock" offspring have been in-and-out of prison, and the rest are a bunch of old racist drunks.
Please....there is nothing to be proud of but a bunch of sniggling morons.

priorities? How about eliminating the massive vehicle pool (new vehicles ever 18 months, and most of them are used as personal autos for the city workers) and putting the money in the POOL and the bubble?
If we get rid of more of the activities available to the kids, we'll just end up with MORE graffiti and vandalism, then need more $$ for cops, and it's like "give a mouse a cookie".
The budget is a joke, let's seriously get a look at where the graft, bloat and ego IS in the budget.
