No Money For Local Infrastructure

The Elwha River Bridge has been permanently closed in the wake of the Minnesota tragedy. This bridge would have been closed in two weeks anyway for demolition, but they’ve decided to play it safe and close it early.

A total of eleven bridges — two in Jefferson County, nine in Clallam County — are “structurally deficient” according to the Federal Highway Administration. This includes the two Eighth Street bridges in Port Angeles.

So, how high a priority should our infrastructure be? Are there any other government expenditures — local, state, national — that you think are getting too much taxpayer money while our infrastructure crumbles? What government undertakings would you reduce or eliminate in order to free up funding to fix our collapsing bridges and highways?

What a waste of money.

Well, gee, there is all that money being poured into a middle eastern desert. We probably could have replaced all the bridges AND bought everyone an ice cream cone.

NO kidding!! Not to mention the MASSIVE 'embassy' we're building there. Our country is on the brink of being bankrupt, our local government is going wild with our property tax assessments (and, evidently, spending it as fast as they can collect it, probably faster...), big business, credit card companies and all the large utilities are doing their best to have "record profits" (with no real change in their business or practices, aside from charging higher prices and greater interest), all our consumer and banking laws have been repealed (to the point of allowing predators to prey on consumers). We're serfs in a kingdom of dunces.
All our infrastructures are wearing out and, get this, we don't have any US OWNED STEEL MILLS anymore. We have to buy it elsewhere, and compete with China and other parts of the world who are building at breakneck speed to become what we used to be...a world power. So, repairing the failing roads, sewers, telecommunications s systems, and fresh water systems is going to cost us more than we have, or will hope to have for many, many years.
Just look at how our GNP has fallen in the last decade.
Hold onto your hats, folks, the depression is coming!

The first thing we do is get rid of the pampered jades in Congress, both Republicans and Democrats, the multi-millionaires who are working for Big Pharmacies, Big Oil and Wall Street and install a government of, by, and for the People. Nothing will change untila viable third party, free from the corruption of Money and Influence, is established.

However, what good will that do? We're in debt to the Chinese, the Dutch and the Scandanavians, tied to the corruption of the Saudis and Israelis by Oil and Influence, our money is literally worthless and there's no basic industry any more.

Everything from computers to kitchen matches is made in China. Levis jeans are made in Mexico, the last American factory closed a few years ago, the telecommunication industry has relocated to India and Asia. Most Americans are workign two or three jobs and still not making ends meet.

Alan Greenspan's "Democritization of Credit" has lead nearly all of us into debts we'll never pay off in our life times and the sub-prime ledning of the mortgage companies means not only will our mortgages go up, buying a home will become virtually impossible for the average person.

Meanwhile the ultra-rich get richer and the middleclass disappears. Our politicians are merely two sides of the same corrupt coin, serving a host of Big Business interests by passing favourable legislation, disembowelling Social Security, the FDA and Medicare.

We're living in a situation very similar to Russia in 1905 or France in the 1780's. It's only going to take one disaster for the whole house of cards to come crashing down and then our creditors will want their money ... and not those worthless dollars, either. The financial ruin will make Germany int he 20's look like a party.

We'll be left to pick up the pieces and slave for others while the Bushs, Clintons, Cheneys, Murdochs and Trumps of this country get midnight flights out of the country into their compounds in Kuwait and the United Arab Emirates while they leave their stooges behind to face the music ... and firing squads.
