Mega-Resort in Brinnon
The population of Brinnon is pretty much divided over the proposed Pleasant Harbor Marina and golf resort. This new complex would have up to 890 hotel and rental units; that’s almost larger than the rest of the town put together.
Some residents think this would be “too much too fast,” and others think it would bring economic benefits to the area.
This project would be on 256 acres. It would include a marina with 290 slips, a resort hotel and condominiums, and a 16,000-square-foot marina village. How is this going to impact a small town like Brinnon?
Some people are concerned that the local elk herd could be jeopardized and/or pushed closer to people's homes. Others are worried about Brinnon turning into another Sequim.
So far 180 people from Brinnon and Quilcene have signed a petition in favor of the resort development. What do YOU think?

Isn't it a matter of picking your poison? Take PA for example, if you search the forums and blogs, you hear a lot of comments like PA is a sleepy shabby mill town that you either go through on the way up to Hurricane Ridge, hang out long enough to hop on the boat to Victoria or just pass through on the way to Forks. You certainly don't go to PA because its a hot spot on the global jet set trail.
And what about the elk? Is it not possible to develop things that account for the ecosystem around it? Elk are just the obvious animal too, what about the impact to the banana slugs? They have mothers too you know...
Absolutely! Anonymous is so right.
We just go around letting money be the only consideration in what we do. We need to think of the whole area, the wildlife, the people who already live in a town, etc.
Anonymous one.... what are the blog sites and forums you are referring to? Can you share, I'd love to read them.
PA is a dump, plain and simple.
One of the beneifts of global warming is that PA will be under water!
A lot of people blog and post about their experiences in PA, Sequim, and Clallam county. Most of the blog posts are of the 'how I spent my summer vacation' type while usenet and forums are full of the mishmash of paranoid raving lunatics and trolls that they have.
I do a lot of searching for the terms 'Port Angeles', 'Sequim', 'Clallam', etc in lots of different search engines. Most is little more than chaff but you get a lot of impressions. Blog search use google blog, technorati, ice rocket, etc. Usenet use google groups, britishexpat, etc. Forums are probably the hardest to find, there are a lot of dead ones out there. City-data is one of the more popular that people post info on the OP but the moderators are very anal retentive. Lonely Planet is another but its mainly travelers.
