Port Writes Off PenPly Debt

The Port of Port Angeles has written off the $204,443 debt owed by Peninsula Plywood.  It's unknown whether the Port will collect any of that money or any of the $314,489 in utility bills.

The Port has turned the unpaid bills over to a collection agency and might eventually pursue legal action.

Interesting. Now the Port reveals that Pen Ply owes over $200K in unpaid bills. In all earlier news stories, the Port described the debt as in the range of $85,000. I guess it's unfair for anybody to expect that big-spending Port officials should notice a mere six-figure shortage in the public's treasury and do something about it earlier.
Ya better pay those slip rental fees for your small fishing boat, though, because the Port will seize it and auction it off if you're past due on the $150/month rent.

The Port is THE most corrupt and idiotic political body we have here in Clallam County. No one else even comes close.

Of course the Port will write off the debt. Look who owes it. Members of that same little circle of "special people".

More of the same. Hard not to be cynical about this place, with actions like these.

Don't forget the 500,000 dollar grant that the State put into it too.

Interesting to read Grant Munro's comments in the PDN. They talk about how much they invested. 19 private investors put in a total of $1 million, with Munro putting in $290K. From the article, it looks like the largest amount of investment came from the taxpayers.

How much did the private "investors" get from the operations? They never got any annual dividends, or ANY form of payback?

Ballsy, though. Munro tells the taxpayers to "get over it", and at the same time is negotiating to continue with his "logs for China" operation at the same site.

Munro can tell us all to "pound sand" if he thinks that helps. Personally, I'd like to see someone pound his bank account, then pound his ass. The creditors should beat him just like he beat his wife.

wow great article. So, not only is he a blowhard but a hothead.
City got screwed, we got screwed. The thing is, did the city keep calling PenPly with that horrid recording about how "your bill is due"?

Ah, Yes. A former Port Angeles City Council member, back when Karen Rogers and Mark Madsen ruled. A time when quality people served Port Angeles, with impeccable character, with honor and integrity. We can see from all this that he really cares about Port Angeles, and its' future.

"Pound sand", and "Get over it".

Jeff Robb at the Port has succumb to the financial pressures and lost his marbles. Grant Munro, Josh Renshaw, Harborworks, Hagiwara, Blackball, you name it, he's gone off the deep end.
