As the police chief on Hill Street Blues used to say:  Let's be careful out there.

This, from a friend of mine that lives up in the Fairview Water District:

"Just now I got a call from PUD saying that we should take the time now till July 5th to water our lawns to make them less fire dangerous! We should use less indoor water, but can water the outside areas surrounding us! This is to prevent us from fireworks danger catching the place afire! What an amazing last ditch futile effort! Why not simply ban all fireworks, at least any in private hands?"

And from another Fairview Water District PUD customer:

"For over a decade, PUD has known that if the Morse Creek flows hit a level of 25 cubic feet, it did not have a way to supply the Upper Fairview customers with an adequate quantity of water for every day living."

And: "PUD representative Tom Martin believes that as early as July 7th, we will hit that 25 cubic feet flow mark in Morse Creek."

6 days or so to arrange for water tanks for 566 properties? Who is paying? How are they going to get there, and from where? How big?

How long will it take for a water truck to make the rounds to 566 properties? Working 24 hours a day non-stop with one hour to arrive, hook up to what-ever tanks (do they even exist?), pump out water, leave and arrive to the next customer, that would be 23 days! 46 days working 12 hour days. And, how long to re-fill the truck? From where?

Plan ahead? Who thought of such a thing. What? Me worry?

The fireworks were being set off last night in our neighborhood last night-48 hours before legally allowed. I hope all idiots who ignite a fire with fireworks get prosecuted. Let's be good witnesses-get photos of the neanderthals.

I think people need to really think through what is coming down the pike. The ramifications of no water.

It makes no difference to me if you think concerns are unwarranted. You and your family are the ones who will be experiencing the problems. You will be in the situation, when there is no water in your house. Already, residents on 566 properties to the immediate east of Port Angeles are facing water shut off, any day now. That is reality. And, the whole region is drying out daily.

My point is to look ahead. Unless there is some kind of miracle, it is very probable that the region won't see any meaningful rain, or relief until October or later. Remember the Forks guy "It will take least three weeks of winter-heavy rain to begin raising aquifer levels, Zellar said." So, even if heavy rains start in October, it may be into November before the water flows to our houses.

It is the first week of July. I'm looking at September, when the kids go back to school. I can't imagine staying in my house with no water, trying to keep the kids clean, fed, washed and ready to go to school every day under those conditions. I don't see any evidence of plans to keep water to my house, by anyone.

The only logical option I see is to find a rental over near the I-5. I need stability. I need a community with reliable services. I don't care about the groups and politics; I have my family to take care of.

I don't know why no plans are being made. I'm not in the position to know. I just know I can't risk what is clearly happening.

For the sake of their families, I hope others will seriously think ahead.

In my 72 years I have not shot off ten bucks worth of fireworks, what a waste of money.

You have a hell of a lot more water than they have here, it is real hard to find free water here in this part of Texas.

Look at Tom Roorda's July 1st aerial photo of the Elwha, and you will see how serious the situation is.

I hear on the radio that Vancouver Island has declared the highest level water alert, Stage 4. The next level up is "No water".

The radio says Stage 4 on Vancouver Island has never been issued before.
