Helicopter Patrols for Marijuana Plants

Today's question in the online Peninsula Daily News is: "Should law enforcement have more helicopter patrols to search for marijuana plants in Clallam and Jefferson Counties?"

As of this writing, 55.4% said No; 40.1% said Yes; and 4.5% were undecided. This was out of 359 votes cast.

What do you think?

More helicopters. So what if our infrastructure is crumbling and the local governments are broke. The top priority is sniffing out that there mary-jew-wanna.

The war on drugs, even more important than those border patrol raids to keep those brown people out.

Moral reletavism from the loony Liberal left continues unabated!

In case you libs didn't know, possesion and cultivating marijuana is illegal. Coming into this country illegally is, well, illegal!

Most of the 55.4% who said no are druggies.

To Anonymous at 1:03 p.m. 9/16: OK, let's see, you conservatives are always talking about "individual liberty" and "limited government." And now you people are in favor of government forces stopping people at random with no probable cause?

Make up your mind.

The commenters at 9:30 and 9:35 p.m., I assume you're just facetious. *Wink*

lets do a calculation... they did two days of flying at, probably, about 300 an hour (fuel, personnel, etc.) so, at, lets say, 18 hours..$5400.00 (probably cost MORE than that)...to find less than 20 plants. Wow. Some EXPENSIVE pot!
Plus...I don't know, what about the annoyance factor for animals AND people....and, last time I looked...pot users were just slow and stupid, but METH users are violent, horrible parents, and insane.
Yeah, yeah, great use of our resources.

Flying a UH1 costs about $2 to 3000 per hour. Perhaps the fixed wing flying high cover for it was $300 per hour. Yeah big return there.

There was some discussion on another board about shooting it down. Personally I'd let them burn in the wreckage.

Better to spend money on fuel and choppers than have some druggie kill a family in a head-on on 101.
We will keep flying and busting heads.

SuperTrooper.....YOU are the problem, not the pot smokers. When will you open your eyes and see the truth of pot. Now, if you want to "cuff em and stuff em" why don't you go after the crankers and meth makers in the county?

Oh...that's right, you love to fly around wasting precious resources to catch a couple of growers of weed where you are safe, instead of beating the brush to find the meth makers....is it because you are to afraid to take these guys on? Yeah....they do have guns also, is that your fear?...or are you just another brainwashed flunkie playing some silly assed game trying to stop the "horrible threat to society" of pot smokers?

Sheesh!! Wake up!

We are working hard to spread freedom across the globe - maybe we should take some of the filters off of freedom here at home. Those filters weren’t put in place by terrorists or foreign governments.

Welcome Home Troops

Sheesh, you libs just don't get it, do you?

What part of "illegal" do you not understand?! The possession and cultivation of marijuana is against the law. It is illegal.

Crossing the borders of the United States of America without a work permit or a visa is illegal.

Do you finally get it? Illegal!

You moral reletivists want pot sold in school yards, illegals stealing from families, living off the welfare and taking jobs from hard working Americans.

Go back your navel gazing!

Libs will never get it...just as they like liberal judges who let scum like Shawn Roe roam the streets. And they now wanna elect a liberal president!

Yes of course. Marijuana, mass murder, same thing. Good old conservatives, always lumping things together that aren't related.

First, let me say that I don't use marijuana, neither do I ever plan to start.

Secondly, I believe marijuana should be legalized. Why, you ask?

a. To save taxpayers money spent on enforcement and prisons.

b. Those growing and selling marijuana then will have to get business licenses, and pay taxes like the rest of us. Perhaps sell marijuana at the liquor store with the state adding taxes similar to those on alcohol.

Remember prohibition? Making alcohol illegal only made the bootleg market and moonshine thrive. This is what is happening with marijuana.

Studies have been showing for some time that marijuana is no worse really than alcohol, and helps relieve pain for some people.

Our prisons are overcrowded, our police forces are stretched thin. We all know marijuana is never going to go away. Taxpayer money needs to be spent on more important stuff.

Technically pot is not illegal anyway. It requires a tax stamp and the goobers refuse to sell stamps.

Gee, just think if they did. No more jack booted thugs in heliocopters (wasting money), a whole lot less NON violent offenders in jail (not wasting money but paying income taxes like good citizens should) and all that new tax revenue from the stamps themeselves.

Tobacco and alcohol are MUCH worse but why are not they illegal? What a stupid bunch of hypocrites.
