New Rite Aid at Eighth and Lincoln

Those shuttered businesses at the corner of 8th and Lincoln — Rocket Drive Thru, Simply Flowers, Blue Dolphin Car Wash, and Round the Clock Deli & Grocery — will soon be demolished. A new Rite Aid will be going up at that location.

Rite Aid acquired the property seven months ago and applied for a demolition permit two weeks ago. The city will probably approve the permit within the next two weeks, according to Sue Roberds, Port Angeles Planning Manager.

Construction should begin this spring. The new Rite Aid will be 17,340 square feet.

Finally there will be signs of life, a pulse, at that corner.

That's interesting, I wish them luck. But I suppose they will close the old one where I take Helen to get her meds so it will be a longer drive from the east side where we live.

Hey, I have questions. Do the employee's make good wages? Do they have a decent health care package?

A family living wage for a family of four is sitting at about thirty bucks an hour now. Did you know that?

Yes, I suppose, and signs of death at an old mall area with lots of parking that is getting more empty all the time.

The question is, what business can fill the old building?

Is there really a need for a new Rite Aid?

I don't understand why they would build a new store when they are so shaky financially. But, then, there is a lot about this world I don't understand...

We need a good steakhouse here. Bushwhackers sux. The only decent steak is Dupis or Traylors.

I got to thinking, something I do to much of. I tend to forget the Rite-Aid next to Goodwill, but if they build a new store and consolidate there will be two more empty buildings in town.

If they consolidate there may be less people employed than there is now. Nothing will improve for PA, only the location will have changed.

Liz is right, no good place for a good steak here, not like that little bar where I had my parts house in Utah. The owner was kind of cranky but the meat was the best.

To heck with it, I'm going camping for a few days.

I would love to stop thinking so much so I could get some decent sleep. But I’ve thought of a new business concept being as I think it’s very possible that America is going to keep going to hell and falling into anarchy. It would be nice if I could walk into my local SURVIVALIST store and find all things related to surviving under one roof.

If someone is looking for a new business to put in this town maybe they should consider that. It could nicely fill one of the vacant Rite-Aid stores, preferably the east side store as it would be a shorter walk for me. Keep in mind of course that I’m an idiot so it may not be such a good idea.

Now I can’t stop thinking about a really good filet of tenderloin, haven’t had one for fifteen years, gave up looking for one around here. Just tear off it’s horns, wipe it’s ass and herd it in here.

Liz, Have you tried Michael's?

Bob Stokes, that is Artist Bob Stokes, is a regular there. You could tell him personally what you think of his statue-things.

Nah, I won't go to Michaels...too many odiferous types go there...the last and only time I went there I lost my appetite. I've heard that my observation wasn't unusual for that place.

"Odiferous types" WTF? Michael's has excellent food. And unlike the sleazebags at Bushwhackers, the people at Michael's don't water down the drinks.

we don't need a new rite aide, the other two are bad enough. We also don't need another walgreens, a new walmart, or any other large chain that could care LESS about the community.
But, you guys all shop there, right? I don't see many in this town supporting local businesses...
So, Liz, you're looking for what...a sizzler?
Have you tried cooking a steak at home?
