Port Angeles Benefiting from Cash For Clunkers
Politicians and TV talking heads may argue about whether “Cash For Clunkers” is working or not. But if you ask local auto dealers and their customers — it’s working.
David Price, owner of Price Ford Lincoln Mercury, said: “Customers absolutely love it.
They are replacing old cars, which are costly to maintain, with new ones with factory warranties and extremely high gas mileage.”
Howie Ruddell, owner of Ruddell Auto Mall, said: “The challenge is that we will run out of stock by the end of August.”
Chris Koenig, general manager of Koenig Chevrolet Subaru, said: “I think they're happy to get out of less fuel-efficient cars and into something safer and more fuel-efficient.”
Dan Wilder Sr., owner of Wilder Auto, said: “With the state and county revenues in dire straits, this will be our biggest sales tax deposit in months.” He also said he’s had to hire additional staff because of the increased sales.

I find it ironic that the clunkers will be crushed and shredded and sent to China to make more bombs and such with so they can make their war machine bigger.
In fact I've been posting about that for a few days now on my blog. I think that we had better get real friendly with China.
I'm not so worried about China dropping bombs on us. But they could do all sorts of damage to us economically at this point. They've also got some real sharp computer types over there. Now that the American consumer isn't consuming as much, China doesn't need us much anymore.
"Now that the American consumer isn't consuming as much, China doesn't need us much anymore."
Actually, I think they need us as much as ever being as it's us that brought their economy up. Just like it was us that brought the Jap economy up in the 50's and 60's, and past.
But do you really think that we can be the economy engine for every other country on this rock?
I don't, not without some cost to us. Not that I have any problem with that cost, as long as it benefits the world.
"But they could do all sorts of damage to us economically at this point."
They could, but they are smart enough to know what what effect would have on them.
