Port Angeles Police Department Adds Two New Officers

A $500,210 grant from the Justice Department will enable the Port Angeles Police Department to add two new officers. This will give them a total of 33 officers.

This grant is part of a $1 billion stimulus package to put more police officers on the street. The program is called Community Oriented Policing Services (COPS).

The two new officers are Justin Leroux, a former National Guard pilot; and Kori Malone, formerly a Sequim police detective.

Back in the Good Old Days, the government didn't go around meddling in people's personal affairs, like police protection. People had personal responsibility and they paid for their own police officers out of their OWN pockets, thank you very much. Then those bumbling government bureaucrats started worming their way in, and now our entire country is infested with government-run socialized police departments. Collectivism is sapping the work ethic and strangling our economy. Let's get rid of this nefarious Socialized Port Angeles Police Department. The private sector will ALWAYS do a better job than a bunch of faceless government bureaucrats. Let's just say No to Socialism and privatize all police departments NOW.

Speaking of Officer Segway, has anyone seen him recently?

The right hand side of Front Street, between his office at the Gateway and the donut shop, is certainly a crime-free zone!

Yes. He zoomed by me the other day as I was entering a shop, quick as can be. Wasn't stopping for nobody. I hope he slows down when going around a corner at least.

I'm waiting for the lawsuit that will happen when Officer Seq rockets over someone. It's bound to happen, he goes tooo fast, and his reaction time isn't that great. There is a REASON skateboarding and biking are illegal on sidewalks....too bad the Seqway is exempt.
What a stupid idea. Who talked the city into this insanity?

Segways are perfect for cops patrolling downtown! Anyone who thinks they are scary or dangerous, likely hasn't ridden one. Speeding on it is a choice though so if a pedestrian is mowed down somehow, it isn't due to the Segway, it is due to a bad choice. Yeah, I live here and own one and promise I won't run anyone over...
