New Business Development Director for PDN

The Peninsula Daily News has hired Katherine S. McKelvey as the Director of Business Development (New Media). The PDN’s website had 589,213 page views this past July. That’s almost 50% more page views than they had in July 2008.

Sometime in the past few months the PDN started updating its website a lot more frequently. There seems to be a new or updated story almost every time I go there.

For example.

And another example.

Hum, that picture of the bank robber looks a hell of a lot like me. But I swear that it wasn't me, if I was so desperate that I was going to rob something it wouldn't be a bank.

Besides, I was at home on the east side taking pot shots at the chopper with my BB gun, he he he.

I wonder at what point in time we will have to start paying newspapers to read the news they post online.

I know that the first place I go to, when looking for goods and services, is the online version of the PDN!

I won't pay ANY money for that piece of trash.

Helen has me pick up a paper of the local rag at times for her to look at, I don't know why being as she has listened to the local station since they came on the air in something like 1946 and she is well known to them and they send her a birthday card every year.

I just go over to Rick's shop and read his paper. The national news in it is always a day late and a dollar short and the local news is on the radio hours before they get it out, and you get music with it between the news.

The down side of radio of course is that it's hard to ignore the ads like it is in the rag or online.

But I do like the radio stations country store section online, it's the only thing on their website I look at.

You don't have a phone book and friends?

Hm. I guess they're finally realizing that people use this internet thing the kids have been talking about.

They've got a long way to go to bring that site up to date. Hope it happens.

Looking better than another paper out of PT that allows comments, but states:

“Article comments are not posted immediately to the Web site. Each submission must be approved by the Web site editor, who may edit content for appropriateness. There may be a delay of 24-48 hours for any submission while the web site editor reviews and approves it.”

Sorry.. I was making a sarcastic comment about how I don't see the economic viability of an on-line newspaper. Like most folks, I DO use the phone book when looking for anything I want to buy or get serviced. They list all the local shops on one page. Easy. I NEVER look to the internet for local shopping. Ebay isn't local!

It is hard for me to believe the PDN site gets half a million hits a month. 30 days to a month equals how many views pewr day?

Hum, by then everyone has moved on and they won't be read by anyone, we are always moving on, everything behind us is just dust in the ruts of time and space behind us as we hurtle through space.

And, that is a REALLY cheap looking site, now. Not that it was so great before. What do you expect, this is Port Angeles.

green and brown, how original. You'd THINK they could get a clue...but evidently they couldn't find their ass if they used both hands, had a diagram, and a big mirror.
