CHEK-TV Channel 6 Likely to Stay on the Air

This Victoria station has been on the air since 1956. It was just about to go under because of financial problems, but the station’s owner, Canwest, has instead sold it to a Vancouver Island investor group.

If the station can stay on the air — the deal still has to be approved by the Canadian government — about 45 jobs will be saved.

I guess I won't be saving any jobs because I don't watch TV unless I get a movie from the library or Star Video.

I used to watch a little TV when I had my big boat in the marina though. I liked to watch Becker, the cranky fart reminded me of me.

I do watch CHEK. Won't pay for the trash that is on cable.

Watched it a few minutes ago. The news clip said it was bought by the employees, with help from local investors. It is now "employee owned".

"Employee owned" is just another sugar coated word for "Communism". These code words are used by the current Marxist regime and it's foreign allies to speak to and instruct the Red terrorists in our midst and to lull the public into thinking everything is a-ok.

The Reds are using a system of mass indoctrination to subvert our culture. Please learn the truth and resist!

"The Reds are using a system of mass indoctrination to subvert our culture."

Seeing what has been happening in the US for the last couple of decades with the TV/advertising media indoctrinating the masses to literally buy into the consumerist lifestyle, which has resulted in massive personal debt, and the governmental bailouts of the country's financial system, one might wonder which is worse?

What WAS the US culture, anyways?

All I see is " We must buy what we are told we must have." Regardless of impacts to the countrys' stability, the worlds' environment, or personal sanity!

I don't believe that for a minute. It's just others supporting each other. As long as everyone carry's their share of the load.

I call it communitysum.

it's not communist you idiot. It just means the workers are the main shareholders which is totally capitalist. Geez, you must be the product of an American moron education --- and a D student at that. Typical for Port Angeles.

That's a very interesting statement. But I don't think that capitalism as we do it is all that great either.

Actually, I'm pretty sure that we are all frigging bat shit crazy and those in the future that study us and this time period will learn something from it.

I sure hope so anyway because we haven't learned how to do shit right so far.

"Workers are the main shareholders" which is a Marxian phrase. Marx advocated workers seizing the means of production. If workers are running the place they have seized the means of production. So we see what is happening in Canada. Workers are following Marx's doctrine and taking over and establishing Communism!

Why does the Marxist regime in this country have so many "czars" in office? "Czar" is a Communism word short for "Commisar". Obama has put Red Commisars into government positions!

The Red doctrine of subversion from within is actively working against the anti-Communist principles this country was founded on. The Reds have infiltrated our finance system and are trying to destroy us economicly. The Reds are trying to subvert and destroy our health care system! Now the Reds are planning to infiltrate our education system with Marxist Radicals and indoctrinate our children with Socialism.

Wake up America!

Off subject, the American Institute of Architects finally released their report on Port Angeles. There are a couple articles in the PDN today about it. I downloaded the report. I've only skimmed through it so far but it looks pretty similar to their slideshow presentation.

Funny, I seem to remember either Reagan or Bush I coming up with a few "czars" of their own.

Sigh...

Of course, in the case under discussion, CHEK-TV was being shut down by the parent company because they were not making enough PROFIT, because of the downturn in the CAPITALIST economic system of FREE ENTERPRISE.

So, in order to preserve their jobs, the employees, with extensive support from the local community came up with a plan to buy the station from the parent company.

Yes, I can see how this is a real threat to humanity, and any such actions should be punished. Those employees should be sentenced to life in prison, or shot before a firing squad for their treasonous behaviours.

annon 5:16, you're cracked.
So, tell me how did you get your education on this? Seems to me you're parroting something that you heard someone else say, and you haven't a clear, original thought in your addled brain.
Communism it is not, socialist, perhaps. But, given that communism has real flaws in the ointment (and falls under it's own weight of corruption), and capitalism has real flaws (ditto), but socialism has been doing a fairly good job -- compared to the other two (the most stable economies in the world are socialist -- try doing some research, think!)and, the reality that THIS country had a history of some socialist leanings -- AT&T was a government approved monopoly (which worked a whole lot better than this bull*hit that has happened since the break up -- meaning costs have skyrocketed and service has been degraded), most utility companies were government run, as well, the airlines regulated, etc. Of course, all this ended with Reganomics and look where it has gotten us.
Meanwhile, farms are given subsidies, corporations are given tax breaks, and government plays a huge part of our lives -- in that they dominate corporations (or corporations dominate us, depending on your viewpoint) with incentives, trade restrictions, etc. None of these things are purely capitalistic, they are more socialistic.
We use some of the concepts of socialism, an no one bats and eye. WE have welfare and social security -- wake up mister, look around.
You really need to stop listening to right wing radio and start reading and thinking for yourself.
