I believe the breakdown is something like 50 positions open, and 59 candidates signed up. In other words, way too many uncontested races. Democracy really only even has a chance to work when the voters actually have choices. How sad that we won't in so many cases this time.

Who in their right mind would want to run after the latest witch hunt in this town? Looks like they scared everyone away, not just the ones they intended to!

Yes. You are SO right. I keep hearing people talk about "accountability" in the political world. What a waste of time. Right?

Why should we waste time and money questioning what our elected officials do? We know they are always doing the best for us, and questioning their actions is just such so Un-American.

Right?

I don't care who is going to be in office next, things will not improve.

We can have democracy in this country, or we can have great wealth concentrated in the hands of a few, but we can't have both. - Louis Brandeis, Supreme Court justice from 1916-1939

Only idiots run for political office, they're looking for more idiots.

"...they're looking for more idiots." Here? Or just everywhere?

Enough of this crap. My life is worth more than the bullshit! I'm going to go do something productive.

Everywhere, our political system was built to be ran by idiots.

It's good to know that I'm not the only disturbed man around here, in his article in the local fish wrap today Pat Neil doesn't seem to be very happy about tourists either.
