Kent Myers to Speak at PABA meeting
At this Tuesday's meeting of the Port Angeles Business Association, City Manager Kent Myers will be the guest speaker. He will be giving a "state of the city" report.

Well, who cares what he has to say aside from "Good bye!"
"state of the city" report.
If his lips are moving he's lying.
THIS IS INTERESTING.
Kent, now that the election is over, the only question is this: Who goes first, you or Glenn Cutler? Either way, you both better get those resumes dusted off.
Someone in the previous thread mentioned Cherie Kidd as mayor.
I mean ... seriusly? She's reliably wobbly on voting for progressive issues and since Di Guilio and Collins are reliably rear-guard types does anyone honestly expect much, indeed any change from a "Mayor Kidd"?
Progressives: Max Mania and Sissi Bruch; sometimes Cherie Kidd.
Crusty Old Guard: Dan Di Guilio, Brad Collins, Brooke Nelson, Pat Downie; frequently Cherie Kidd.
I would expect "Mayor Kidd" to hew to a center-right posiiton more often than not. I don't see what LW really has to worry about.
DAMN HURDLES.
"Mayor Kidd"?
I don't suppose she would be any worse than anyone else that would hold that position. I think she means well, it's just that she's a politician.
I think she'd play a different game if she had her own country.
Anon. 7:03PM...Your logic escapes me. DiGuilio has been arrogant, aloof, condescending, etc. He is a control freak who doesn't like having to listen to those who disagree with him - or who contradict city staff. So, yes, he would qualify as the Crusty Old Guard. I am delighted to see that he got the lowest percentage of the vote of the incumbents who were re-elected.
Cherie Kidd, on the other hand, asks questions of staff, and tries to listen to everyone - both citizens and her fellow council members. No, she is not necessarily "progressive" on every issue - but who is? She would make a much, MUCH better (and more truly representative) mayor than DiGuilio ever did.
And yes, she WOULD be Larry Williams' worst nightmare because she is ideologically very different from him, and for the simple reason that Larry Williams is a sexist jerk. (Not much different from DiGuilio in that respect.)
Given the minor realignment of the city council, I can't see that either Myers or Cutler will be in the job market any time soon. Wishful thinking on your part Anon 6:48.
"Crusty Old Guard: Dan Di Guilio, Brad Collins, Brooke Nelson, Pat Downie; frequently Cherie Kidd."
I guess you were not around a few years ago, when Brad Collins, who used to work in the PA Planning Dept, got his job wiped out by Glenn Culters' "consolidation" of power. Brad quit his job with the city, as a result.
I think that there is the possibility for positive change in Port Angeles. Cherie really does want the best for Port Angeles, even if she gets confused with the circumstances occasionally, it seems. And, I think Pat Downie also wants the best for the city, and is also a past Port Angeles Planning Commisioner, like Sissi.
Also, I've watched Sissi on the Commission more than a few times, and she is not afraid to question Staff. Unlike Perry, DiGuilio or Nelson.
And, there is MUCH Staff needs to be questioned about!
Yes, I agree with above comments about Kent at PABA: " Well, who cares what he has to say aside from "Good bye!".."
Anons 8:10 AM and 10:13 AM -
WELL SAID !!
I see some hope for Port Angeles with the new council. And yes, I think that the majority of the 2012 council members realize that Cutler and Myers need to be shown the door.
You people make me laugh! You all voted for Dan Di Guilio when he ran against Edna and now you're lining up to piss all over him. What a bunch of hypocrites!
Stop being so negative!
What a bunch of hypocrites!
We vote for those that lie the best and promise improvement.
They turn us into hypocrites.
Hey Anon. 11:57 AM, November 21, 2011...
Yes, we voted for him because he was better than Edna, and he got his chance. And, speaking for myself, as someone who voted FOR him against Edna, and AGAINST him this last time, I can tell you that my (last) vote was driven by deep disappointment in DiGuilio as an elected rep. And I was willing to give his opponent the chance to disappoint me, too. That's how politics work.
Regardless, he's back in, but has been essentially neutered. No more Mayor DiGuilio, no more gruff B.S. with members of the public during PUBLIC comment period. Goodbye, Dan - and good luck, Cherie!
"You all voted for Dan Di Guilio when he ran against Edna and now you're lining up to piss all over him"
Guess you're an Edna supporter, even to this day?
As Anon 5:42 points out so well, the voters gave Danny Boy the chance to show what a good elected public representative he could be, based on all his campaign promises.
But, as we all saw so clearly, once he was in office, he was a great disappointment to many. Yes, in the elected representative system, we get to look at the performance of those elected, and we get to decide if we approve.
Yes, Danny Boy got re-elected. Was it because he admitted his votes to form HarborWorks were a mistake?
It will be interesting to see how he votes, this time around. Will he demonstrate that he learned anything, or will he just fall back into his old ways.
We'll be watching.
If there's any watching to be done, I'm the guy who's going to be doing the watching!
