Yes, we are surrounded by millions of trees, but treed parks are still nice.
I was at the park about a week ago when Kenmore Air came in to land, hell, they had plenty of clearance over those trees. They were a good 150 feet over them.
And where in the hell did the water in the duck pond go?
They just stage meetings like that to give the rest of you the illusion that they give a crap what you think and want, it's not like it will go up for a vote.
I’ve never been a fan of flying, it just doesn’t seem natural to me. But back in the 70’s with a few beers in my gut for bravery I, um, ‘borrowed’ a friends Cessna 180 a few times. That tall tree at the very end of the approach to the short small town runway isn’t want bothered me, it was that piece of shit battery in the plane. Tying a plane down and twisting the prop by hand and risking losing your head is a pain in the ass.
And if the engine dies after take off you don’t have anyway to restart it with a near dead battery, that’s what broke me of flying. But trees? Pfff, today’s pilots are pussies.
Keep on truckin', Billy!
@ 5:37 PM.... Someday I'll go the way of Smokey Yunick and Thompson S. Hunter. But until then I'll damn sure keep on truckin. :-)
Flying lessons? I didn't need no stinking flying lessons other than watching Jim and asking questions.
Basic flying isn't that hard, the only tricky part is putting her back on the deck in one piece, screw that up and you're, well, screwed.
Reminded of a song, "Killed myself when I was young so I could be new again."
Any idiot can fly a plane, and land it, even if the landing isn't pretty, we've never left one up there. :-)
I heard that the PABA voted to support clear cutting Lincoln Park, and will register their sentiments via letter to the city.
I guess this is to be expected from that soul-less bunch of _______________ (fill in the blank).
I used to be a member of PABA. Billy used to be a member, too. I think Jackson, who posts here periodically, has quit PABA, as well.
Having been involved with the group for a few years, I can say with a degree of certainty that they think they are a lot more important than they really are. They sit around every Tuesday morning, get entertained by who ever is invited to come to speak, and occasionally vote on what ever motion is put before them. The motions are usually brought forward by the same crew with the same agendas that have been put forward for the last decade or so. Usually issues that will benefit the real estate folks in some way.
But, in reality, if anyone looks to see what PABA actually has accomplished to support and keep businesses in Port Angeles, they will see it accomplishes very little.
