The first thing the new owners should do is to get rid of Paul Gottleib!

Does this mean we can finally, at long last, PLEASE, get rid of Paul Gottlieb?

He is a barrier to members of the community having their voices heard, and is no credit to ther PDN.

I was actually pretty happy at this announcement. I thought this might signal a shift away from poor grammar, blatant inaccuracies, badly researched stories and an annoying paper-wide style more suited to a Powerpoint presentation than a news story.

Now I'm not so sure. The printing room crowd is the one getting the ax and they are not part of the problem. Furthermore the purchase of Sequim Gazette and the Forks Forum changes the dynamic considerably.

I'm guessing the new owners will consolidate sometime in 2012. If I were them I'd move some of the staff and the PDN name over to the Sequim Gazette and create a weekly Peninsula-wide paper with a strong, modern website.

This is a large geographic area but not enough happens here to support three papers. I've wondered if the PDN would improve if it went weekly, giving them more time to focus on important stories. Might get the chance to find out.

Different topic: Interesting to see that the city council agreed to raise the rates for utilities for Port Angeles residents. This includes increasing the costs to residents for that silly sewage project.

AND, that Max Mania went along with the vote.
