Engineer to Inspect Nippon Catwalk after Fire

A wooden catwalk at the Nippon Paper USA mill caught fire last night.  A structural engineer is supposed to inspect the catwalk today.  The fire did not affect mill operations and no injuries have been reported.

Did the fire generate any electricity? Otherwise, who cares!

The Shape of Things to Come. Love how the firefighters described how difficult it was to get at the fire. Good design standards, no doubt, a Clallam County staple.

A wooden catwalk caught fire? I certainly hope no models were injured!

I heard the fire was caused by the heated love affair between Cherie Kidd and her Corporate Masters.

Reading that article about how we are facing our own extinction makes me think about all those Macho types out there that always tell us what THEY would do if somebody threatened them, or their families. Yeah, they got their big guns, and they sure wouldn't hesitate to cap their asses.

But, what do we see now, as 5 million people a year are already dying off because of CO2 pollution? Not a sound.

No one even wants to talk about it, much less DO anything concrete to head off disaster.

The US will be the world's TOP oil and gas producer in another year or two, according to the Wall Street guys.

Way to go, Obama. Let's add literal fuel to that fire.

So, we'll just go down the tubes, like so many civilizations before us.

As stupid as Zac's comments are on the PDN site, Baba Louis (Dale Wilson's) are even more idiotic. (And it doesn't help that he uses a fake name...) "Thanks, Mayor Kidd, you've represented the city well..."

Yeah, she's represented us deep into a well of debt and dumb decisions. The infrastructure is falling apart - let's put millions into a new (pointless) waterfront! She complains about "unfunded mandates" (just like Peter Ripley) yet ushers Cutler's $60 million dollar turd tank on the shoreline through.

Cherie is an idiot. She just doesn't get it. Anyone who doesn't get that must also be an idiot. I'm looking at you, "Baba" Wilson...

The State/Ecology told the City to stop polluting. They did not dictate WHAT way to accomplish that.

The City thought it was soo clever in getting these "grants" to pay for all kinds of things not specific to stopping the overflows, like the CSO Phase 2 project that is largely the replacement of pump station #4, which is older City infrastructure that will need rehabilitation to a significant degree regardless of whether it is resolved under the CSO project or as a standalone City utility project.

Now, Cherie tries to shift the cause of the problems the City now finds itself in on "unfunded mandates". While "25% of ratepayers are behind in their payments".

Hello?!?!

While "25% of ratepayers are behind in their payments".

Ooo! Ooo! I know the solution to that! Raise taxes, utility rates and garbage rates even more! That there's the ticket!

Well, you see that the school district wants new school buildings, and the article uses Sequim's $87 million proposal as an example.

So, can we expect new taxes there, too?

If only people in Port Angeles knew how inept the City Staff actually are. If you fact check what they present to the public concerning this crazy CSO project, you can easily see how the City Council and the public have been mislead.

Of course, this doesn't excuse the City Council, who have repeatedly been shown problems in what the staff has been telling them, but CHOOSE to ignore the obvious.

Max was the only one to regularly challenge the staff story line with actual facts and alternate visions. He was the only one to regularly express concern about the bloated city budget as well.

We see how much they listened to him. Port Angeles is fated to continue its decline. Nothing can save it.

I disagree. Check out this article:

Now, really. If the Chinese, with what THEY have to deal with, can do these things, what the hell is the matter with us?

What is stopping us?

Um, duh! Keeping up with the Kardashians is on!

Ooo, what wacky adventures are Kim and Kayne going to be up to this week??
