Again, we see how people don't think things through.
Think about what people have been doing throughout the centuries. You know, that thing called an "arms race". Some people within a given country think THEY will gain control, safety, security, dominance and power if THEY have the most advanced weapons available. So, they spend time and money developing the biggest, baddest weapons.
Of course, now some people in some other country feel insecure, figuring the folks with the latest, baddest weapons can just sweep in, and take over their towns, cities and countries. So, they invest in getting the biggest, baddest weapons they can get.
This happens on a "local" scale, too. Cops didn't used to carry weapons. Now some want the weapons used in international professional warfare. Obviously, this ramps up the potential violence we will see in our neighborhoods, because the "bad guys" don't want to be out-gunned, and will respond by looking for the biggest, baddest weapons they can find or create.
The really sad part of all this is that it never solves the problem. People have figured out reasons to justify killing each other for thousands of years. Wars end because of negotiations.
The media loves to focus on the incredibly small fraction of a percent of our populations that commit horrible crimes. Based on these, the police build up their "response capability". But, the vast majority of our populations have no part in any such violence.
One crazy person does something stupid, and billions are spent trying vainly to make sure it never happens again.
Only the weapons manufacturers are winning in this war.

Anon 4:37 So sorry that everything in life can't be abbreviated for you. Kinda like life; no substitute for actually living it.
Just be a good and decent person and none of that shit matters to you.
Things are different down here in Texas, like leaving America.
Right. I forgot commenters on this blog have no sense of humor.
Billy sez: "Just be a good and decent person and none of that shit matters to you."
You sold your place at the right time, Billy. The rivers are dropping, and going to go dry this year. The Dungeness is only ankle deep near the Strait.
What do you think properties here are going to be worth, when there is no water by the end of summer? From that point forward, people will have to disclose on their sales docs the property doesn't have reliable water supply. Who is going to buy into that?
Some times you can be a good and decent person, and bad things still happen to you, if you don't get out of the way, or take action.
Anybody here, get out while your property is still worth something. Otherwise, just know you were warned.
Looked at the reports for the water levels for the Elwha river (where Port Angeles city water comes from), and the Dungeness river, which runs through Sequim, a bit ago.
The Elwhat is now at about 700cfs. Down from around 735 a week ago. Average for this date (with a snow pack to keep water flowing through the summer) is 2,000 cfs. There is no snow pack, now.
The Dungeness is now at 245 cfs, down from over 250 cfs a week ago. Average for this date (with snow pack) is around 681 cfs.
Not looking good, folks.
You might start thinking about buying a bunch of those blue plastic 55 gallon drums, and filling them up now.
Or, move when school lets out.
As Port Angeles busily votes itself "The Best Town, Ever", here is what others think, based on actual comparisons:
