Rifle Range for Clallam County
Clallam County might be getting its first rifle range. For that matter it would be the first shooting range on the entire Olympic Peninsula.
According to the PDN online poll, most area residents are in favor of it (nearly 80%). But there are some objections.
The shooting range will be in the West End, near Sadie Creek and the East Twin River. One nearby resident thinks the bullet shells could cause lead pollution. The Lower Elwha Klallam haven't taken a stand on the issue.
What's your opinion?

The people of the peninsula are really getting sick and tired of whacko environmentalism...especially outsiders...and lead fears ARE whacko. I wish all the environazis would off themselves and thereby lessen their "carbon footprint" (more Algore whackism).

So the dead zone off Neah Bay is fine? You do KNOW about the problem the oceans are having with dead zones, don't you?
The are hyponix (fancy word for you, means low-oxygen) areas where EVERY LIVING THING DIES.
The Pacific coast of the between California and Washington has a 1120 square mile (2900 square kilometer) dead zone caused by stronger winds presumed to be associated with climate change, and increased heat (possible from more asphalt, less trees). This dead zone has reoccurred between June and September every year since 2002. It's not the only place. Every ocean in the world is showing dead zones, as well as the great lakes.
Sure, sure, so this isn't happening? Seems to me the more we log out the forests and pave with asphalt, the less the earth can cool itself, the MORE we have wild weird weather, the more we have dead zones. So, what happens when all the fish die, crabs die, and the oceans die? We've been seeing it happen since the 70's but no one woke up, in fact, seems like YOU ARE STILL SNOOZING.

Salmon depletion? Read Mr. Neal's column in Wednesday's PDN about nylon nets...you can "restore" the Elwha all ya want, but if all the salmon are being killed beyond the river, ya ain't got any fish to go up the river. "Dead zones" are cyclic things, just like climate fluctuations.

We full time and retired law enforcement citizens could sure use a nice new range that also the public could use.
