Clallam County Noise Ordinance
Well, that idea went down in flames. But Bill Benedict and the Sheriff's Citizens Advisory Committee will probably come up with a revised version of this ordinance.
It’s a touchy situation. Some people are loud and inconsiderate; and some people are too finicky and are apt to complain about anything and everything. How do you come up with a one-size-fits-all law that will satisfy everybody?
What say you?

there ARE laws on the books regarding the decibel level for automobile mufflers and THAT is not enforced, EVER.
I've been next to some vehicles that are so loud my ears were ringing for hours....after they "vroomed".
There exist decibel meters, so set some sane laws, and let everyone live in peace. I think the controversy was over the shoddy construction of the law... not the concept.
You leave the laws as-is. If you read the ordinance now, it is pretty plain what is allowed and not, it takes the common sense approach that we are free to live our lives without making others miserable. Many thanks to those who went to voice their opinion or wrote letters/email.
hey Tom, would you be interested in creating a post about the new Volunteer Center that is online in Clallam County?
check out www.volunteerclallam.org for more information and to tap into a lot of volunteer opportunities in the Port Angeles, Sequim, Forks and Port Townsend areas.
Michael: OK, I'll do a post on it tomorrow.
