Port Angeles Police Log
I’m assuming there isn’t one. I did every web search I could think of and nothing turned up. A lot of small-town newspapers have one (including the Port Townsend paper).
Aside from being entertaining, these police logs are informative. I can’t be the only person who sees five handcuffed suspects standing next to three police cars, and wonders “hmmm, what’s going on?”
Unless it’s a murder or a bank robbery, you won’t read anything about it in the Peninsula Daily News. The downtown and waterfront area sure have had a lot of police activity lately. It would be nice to know what some of these incidents are all about.
Anybody know how to access this information, or why the local government is so secretive about it?

That would be great, the best we can do is use the county jail roster which contains a surprising amount of data. If the jail, PAPD and Sherrif's office had reports available and published an RSS feed it would be ideal.
There used to be a radio report on police business on radio KONP. Not sure if it's still on.
The other day I saw Officer Segway bust a kid for riding his bike on the sidewalk. Granted, bicycles are supposed to be on the street. But the sight of Officer Segway and this kid was just laughable ... I'm surprised the kid stopped at all. He could have pedalled off and left Officer Segway in the dust.
PDN is a vanity rag for the editor-in-chief. It's not for education or information.
Too bad we don't have a police log....then we could have a shot at getting on Leno with the stupid stuff that goes on around here.
Anyway, a log would make the cops accountable...wouldn't it? Just harassing drivers because the front license plate is off, and taking two hours to "investigate" a fender bender (and closing a lane on one of our arterial streets during "rush hour") wouldn't make for very interesting reading.
Officer Seqway almost HIT ME!!! I was coming out of a shop and he was going full throttle (12mph is pretty darn fast when it's on a sidewalk).
Wish he had. I can use the $$$
It's a town joke....
gee, why doesn't our local NEWSPAPER look into a police log? Oh wait, I know, the same reason they really only report about 1/20th of anything newsworthy around here, and even then it has a decidedly uninteresting bias towards the propaganda city hall wants promoted.
No wonder newspapers in this country are dying...they're all crap. Plus, our own PDN has a problem with Mr.Ego, the publisher.
Since the PDN covers both Clallam and Jefferson counties, they want to include the 9-1-1 logs from both counties in any log. But for whatever reason, Jefferson County doesn't release theirs or provide it to the paper or whatever. So the public goes without. It's stupid.
You can use Crime Reports - https://www.crimereports.com/ - punch in an address and it shows a map and types of crimes in the area. Found this through the Port Angeles Police Department website. The website also has press releases and a crime report page (though the only ongoing investigation listed is persistent vandalism). Hope this helps.
