Victoria Express, Hood Canal Bridge
The owner of the Victoria Express will be providing shuttle service when the Hood Canal Bridge is closed for repair this coming May and June.
Two passenger-only ferries — the Victoria Express II and another company vessel — will be provided by Victoria Rapid Transit Inc. Each ferry has 149 seats. There will be a 1,500-vehicle parking lot on each side of the Hood Canal Bridge — in Shine and Port Gamble.
Victoria Express owner Jack Harmon said he expects to maintain the Port Angeles-Victoria run during the period when the bridge is closed. For the Hood Canal shuttle, he’ll be using the two boats that run between Bellingham and Victoria, and between Victoria and the San Juan Islands.

Jack Harmon runs a damn good business, I was impressed the day I took the Express to Victoria and he was part of the crew. He was very helpful to everyone on board that needed help and advice about visiting Victoria.
Even called ahead and got two ladies reasonable room rates and reservations and gave them good instructions for getting to the gardens that wasn't going to cost them extra money.
I'm gonna tell him he might wanna keep you off the boats Billy, lest you may think they are Love Boats where you can freely kiss titties.
It's nice to hear some good news about the local economy, for once.
Lizzy said titties, he he he.
I've known Jack since my days in the Business Association. I'm pretty sure he isn't concerned about me on his boats because besides how I sometimes talk I'm always the gentleman with the ladies.
Unless of course they are risque types, and I'm okay with that also being as I am at times.
Actually, I don't think all that much of Jack on a personal level, but I do wish to give credit where credit is due when someone runs their business in a very good professional manner.
And he damn sure does that.
LOL...this blog is funni!
Thank you Jennifer, I always brighten up a room, ha ha ha.
I think Jack Harmon is one of the board members of the PA downtown association. Maybe he could light a fire under the feet of some of those comatose organisms that are clogging up that organization. Doubtful though, lol.
Jack is involved in a lot of things, but his purpose is mostly self serving. Don't take me wrong though, all in all he's an okay guy. His father is a pretty interesting man, he's done a lot of cool things.
On the bright side, wasn't it a lovely afternoon? I got some things done outside.
I saw ya Billy, what were you doin over there?
You saw me where, Lizzy? I didn't go anywhere yesterday other than to Rick's shop in the evening.
You're not stalking me are you? ha ha ha. Not that it matters, lots of places for me to hide in my messy yard.
Yes "Jennifer" this is a funny blog. It would have to be since it mostly deals with the dysfunctional government of a small town. Like the chalkboard at Port Book and News said the other day, "a town with a great view and no vision."
I see that there won't be a ferry service between here and Victoria for two weeks while the Coho is in dry dock.
Not sure what to think of that, other than I've never gotten the sense that Canadians come here and spend much money anyway.
It will be hard on that Tom guy that has to go there everyday to deliver things though.
I stopped at Reggie's for a beer this afternoon on the way home and talked to a man that has worked on the Gateway project some, he seems to think that there is a pretty serious problem there.
BTW, I believe that Primo is the major contractor there. Do you know how they came up with that name?
Because the company was founded by a bunch of druggies into primo shit. Good old country boys that decided to build shit. Ha ha ha.
But I'm not inclined to think they did anything wrong there, they just followed the blueprints and what others told them to do.
I'm more inclined to blame bad engineering and the frigging morons that run this city.
The city of course would love to stick the blame on Primo. Everyone knows that the city never does any wrong.
Never mind that I have never seen them do much that was right in my ten years here.
I get around a lot in wide ranging circles, of all levels of humanity, that is how you really learn things. :-)
IMHO, five posts by BBC in one day are five posts too many.
Billy,
Why don't you go down there to those new bridges on Monday and ask 'em what the hell they are doin?? All I see is two friggin empty bridges and nobody workin. Is it because they get paid up until they are open to traffic? Are they friggin stalling with our tax $$$$? WTF????
Give 'em hell, BBC!!! I know you got the cajones!!
Then report back to us!!
Are you kiddin? BBC doesn't have the balls to go down there!
I was at the bridges recently, actually, I don't give a crap when they open. Not sure I will even want to use them considering how they build things anymore.
Those straight up and down pillars sure don't look earthquake proof. I'm more trusting of a good cable span.
Here's a thought for those that don't like my comments, don't read them, duh !!
No surprises to any of us, I don't think. We all knew the Gateway project was wrong, it was unnecessary and in the wrong place, so big surprise it's still not done, way over budget, and everyone's scratching their heads saying "Gee, wonder what went wrong?????"
We could have had our pool, all the computers the schools can use, and lots of downtown promotion for 1/10 of the money we've wasted on the new "Gateway" homeless shelter. Boooo!
Off subject, but in my efforts to keep things and myself controversial (ha ha ha) I see that Mr. McClaskey, who now owns the waterfront property that others have tried to put projects on is saying that there will never be a hotel there as long as he has anything to say about it. Unless he decides to put one there.
I’ve talked to him a few times and happen to think that he is a pretty smart cookie, smarter than the yokels that run this town. And he is right, another one isn’t needed in this town. I would never get a room in any downtown hotel, when I do get a room here for the hell of it I get one at the Port Angeles Inn, better rates and view.
And being above the downtown area means that during a good quake I could slide down the hill on top of the destroyed buildings there. Wheeeeeee !!!! Ha ha ha, sometimes I enjoy being crazy.
I knew BBC wasn't gonna go down to the bridges. I was hopin to see a crazed guy driving his POS pickup across 'em on the bridge webcams. Then a cruiser pullin up.... And read about it in the Peninsula Daily Snooze.
If ya decise to do it Billy, let us know what time so we can get the webcam up!
BBC, was that you who drove in reverse and smashed into the house yeterday? (today's paper)
