Playboy Bunnies Ruin Easter in Port Angeles

This letter appeared in yesterday’s PDN:

“What a surprise to see two costumed Playboy bunnies at the downtown Easter Egg Hunt for kids. I hope that the Port Angeles Downtown Association talks to the business and that they are not allowed out of their hutch for next year’s celebration.

“It was for the children. Those bunnies had no place at this event.”

I would have thought that bringing people into Port Angeles for a holiday celebration was a good thing; a higher priority than finding little things to nitpick about. The two businesswomen in question — I’m not mentioning names — are always helping and contributing whenever there’s a downtown event. And their place of business seems to be bringing lots of people into town.

I’m taking an uneducated guess that these two women contribute a lot more to Port Angeles than the letter writer (without knowing who the letter writer is or anything about this person).

Correct me if I’m wrong.

Only our stupid "newspaper" would print that letter.

I don't know who these two women are, but apparently the blog writer does to say they are not giving names but knows they contribute to the community.

But, in an objective way, playboy bunnies are not welcome in my book. This town promotes enough sex, tattoos, sin, and drugs already.

If they're who I think they are, they're really nice people. And the bunny costumes, while provocative, are pretty tame compared to some of the regular clothes I see young women wear these days. You want something to complain about, try: "Oooo, look at my thong, it's right under my tramp stamp! Going to DSHS now, then gonna pick me up something from Walmart to make myself look sexy!!" Yeesh.

I was not at the event and don't know who the women are, but if they were dressed in Playboy bunny attire, in my opinion that is inappropriate. Sexuality and symbols of what some may view as the objectification of women have no place at an event for children and families. Even if the two women contribute to the community in other valuable ways, parents have a right to feel their attire was unacceptable. Hopefully the women will take it as constructive criticism, rather than a personal attack, and think better of it next year.

They weren't dressed as Playboy bunnies. They were wearing tights, longsleeved leotards and and knee high boots. Pretty tame stuff, really.

The PDN is run by a conservative wacko, hence the plethora of anti-Obama letters they print. That particular letter was right up their alley and grist for the collective mill of lumpen proletariat they cater to.

You might be surprised to learn that "conservatives" aren't thrilled with the reporting capabilities of the PDN, either, and don't see the editor as generally friendly to their causes. I am not a fan of the PDN, but if some hate the editor for being "conservative" and some hate him for being "liberal" maybe he's doing something right after all.

I, Mrs. Eustace Algonquin, am head of an organization which proudly bears the name Grannies Against Sin (GAS). Our fraternal organization, Grampas Against Brazen Strumpetry (GABS), is headed by my husband, Mr. Eustace Algonquin.

Our Sacred Mission is to promote morality and wholesome behavior and to stamp out degeneration and vice in the downtown area. We have especially set our mark against young women who comport themselves like Brazen Jezebels and common Harlots. We, GAS and GABS, will not tolerate such unseemly and disgusting behavior to be exhibited anywhere downtown.

Therefore, our organizations, GAS and GABS, will be holding a demonstration at the fountain this morning. Our cry of "Down with Brazen Strumpetry!" "Young Women, Do Not Comport Yourself Like a Jezebel!" shall ring out! My sister in law, Mrs. Jonas P. Mendacious, will accompany us on her euphonium while we sing a selection of hymns.

Do join us, won't you?

perhaps we should hate the PDN leader as being inept, spineless, a bully (to his employees) and altering his editorial concerns because of peer pressure from some old-time wingnuts in the area (read: the old boys who think they should run everything).
Our publisher is an excellent example of why the New York Times CUTS it's dead wood and kicks them to the curb.

The Objections to the Playboy eater bunnies are NOT the result of mental retardation, the Retarded are SMARTER than this & I would hate to defame them by attributing objections of such profound stupidity to anyone but them. I can not understand why parents would want to shelter their children in a all religious environment until they are Raped by their local priest. But them again these folks are profoundly stupid & make Forest Gump look like Einstein.!!!
