Bar N9ne
The Bar N9ne Pizzeria & Lounge is now open. It’s at 229 West First Street, where the Lyre’s Club used to be (and the Crazy Fish before that). It’s owned by the same people who own Sabai Thai at 903 West 8th Street.
Bar N9ne will be open daily from 4 p.m. to 2 a.m. Happy Hour is from 4 to 9 p.m.
The new owners added 300 square feet to the interior by ripping out the back wall.
Bar N9ne will have karaoke on Wednesday nights, open mic Thursday nights and live music Friday and Saturday nights.
And there’s another new pizza place opening soon — Westside Pizza, 116 North Lincoln (between First and Front Streets). Westside Pizza will have a “soft opening” sometime this weekend and a Grand Opening in about two weeks.

Doesn't seem like a good location for Westside Pizza to me but what in the hell do I know.
It wouldn't be a bad location for a no name on the door speakeasy though. Well, other than parking and the close proximity to the cop shop.
Not that I haven't been into a few of them in the past close to cop shops, but they were in on the good times also.
Recall a poster on a wall in an old bar/whorehouse.
POKER IN THE FRONT - LICKER IN THE REAR.
I wish both business well in their endeavors.
ATTENTION!!!!
I am looking for a couple (or more) volunteers tomorrow for a couple of hours. We are going to give the "Welcome Sign" in front of Thurmans a cleaning and weeding.
We will be starting on site at 10:00 in the morning. Bring some small hand digging tools, buckets, and gloves. I will have some brooms and garbage bags for weeds and trash.
We will also be fixing the pond and re-filling it. We will have a pressure washer also.
Thanks in advance for those that feel so inclined. It is a good project and it needs to be maintained.
...and you can stil stay anonymous...;) haha

Added to above.....
I forgot to tell you the day. It will be Sunday, May 16th @ 10:00 am
It should require about 2-3 hours of leisurly work...nothing hard or strenous....some crawling around and weeding tho...
Thanks
Jackson
I went into Bar N9ne yesterday... same goofy layout as Crazy Fish. The bar feels dark/dirty and stinks like a mix of bar flys/skanks, grease and paint.
Pass.

Now THAT'S funny. LOL
Dude, that's killer that a pizza place will be opening on Lincoln cos when I get the munchies after a few bowls pizza really hits the spot, y'know? Hope they're open late.
So i bought this wicked throwing star from one of the pawns shops and dude I've been throwing it at the wall of my apartment. Dude, it's like bad ass ninja stuff! But now I've got all these holes in my apartment wall and if the landlord sees them he'll get all tweaked, y'know.
So i'm planning to by a wall hanging and cover up the holes. I wanta find one with jimi Hendrix and the Dallei Lama on it. Dude, wouldn't that be awesome!?
I'm going skateboarding and mabbe cop a bag. Peace out y'all!

Anonymous at 10:59 -- I'll bet you were one of those mean little kids in fifth grade that nobody wanted to be friends with -- nothing but nasty remarks and negativity. Why don't you give a brand-new business, not quite fine-tuned yet, a chance? Why tell other people they won't like it, which is pretty much what your comment says? Give these people credit for trying to improve things downtown, OK?
hate to say it...but the new business does smell "off". Actually, smells like old dirt/filth. I've found that this is usually because the painters didn't actually wash down all the surfaces with TSP before painting over the old dirt. The smell seeps through the latex, and you get this "old grandpa/sweat/smoke/dirty/grime/old grease smell".
It's really a smell. Yuck.
I couldn't stay in there more than 10 minutes, because of it.
Not being mean...just saying, clean businesses smell better and are more appealing. Sorry. I wish them luck...but you wont' find me in there.

The only way to find out is to experience things for yourself rather than by others the opinions, of others. So just drop in and visit the place, it may fit you like a well fitting shoe.
Anon 1:04 PM:
Your attitude is typical PA/downtown. Criticism is unwanted and attacked. As a business owner, I welcome constructive criticism MORE than some blowing smoke up my ass and keeping quiet.
Anon 10:59 gives his/her opinion of a (your?) business and instead of taking note, you impotently attack him/her personally.
Opinions are like a-holes, everyone has one. Wise up.
The anon. 1:04 p.m. commenter was making the point that it's kind of tacky to be slamming a brand new business, especially a new business that's using the same location where the 2 previous businesses went under.
The person who was criticizing Bar N9ne came back with another comment, a much more specific criticism which could indeed help the owners.
That person's first comment, "same goofy layout as Crazy Fish. The bar feels dark/dirty and stinks like a mix of bar flys/skanks, grease and paint" was negative without being specific enough to be helpful or constructive.
The second comment was constructive, the kind of constructive criticism that most business owners would, or should, appreciate.
I think Bar N9ne is amazing. Feels like something you would find in a larger city. They changed a lot compared to the other places before them. Totally different. Been there five or six times and no bad smell. Not sure if Anonymous needs glasses or is your typical negative nelly, but glad to have Bar N9ne in our community.
