Port Angeles Burglaries Up to Ten Now

Two burglaries of downtown businesses have brought the total to ten. The previous burglaries, all businesses, were along East Eighth Street and on North Francis Street.

The M.O. has been the same for each one: Cutting the power and phone service before breaking in.

North Olympic Crime Stoppers pays up to $1,000 for information leading to an arrest and filing of felony charges. They accept anonymous tips. Anyone with information about these burglaries can reach them at 800-222-8477, or the Port Angeles Police Department at 360-452-4545.

Another burglary, not included in the above article, occurred this past Monday or early Tuesday at
Lynn’s Caboose at Laird's Corner. And two other businesses in that same area were burglarized about two weeks ago.

And when they catch them they'll enter this joke of a judicial system where it's just 'alleged' that they did these things and it'll cost the taxpayers a lot of money. What a stupid system of games by judges and lawyers.

If you catch one in the act save us some money and just shoot 'em.

Gotta love Port Angeles.

The police can't or won't catch these burglars. These robberies will stop only when the perps f#$& with the wrong person. They'll break into a shop where the owner is waiting there with a gun. Problem solved.

Its kids guys, they are 20-25 year olds who didn't do shit with their lives.

One of these days, I pray that they break into some 60 year old man's house that is sitting in his living room with a shotgun.

The joke of a judicial system we have here is a disaster.

Um, I'm 67 and can spit out 15 shots as fast as I can pull the trigger.

Wow! You folks sure watch too much television!

In the real world, when you shoot someone, a whole system kicks in. No, the music doesn't play triumphantly, and the screen doesn't fade to black. The cops show up, and a LOT of process starts. If the victim of your shooting dies, then you face homicide charges, and you hire a lawyer to prove it was justified.

If the victim of your shooting survives, and sustains serious disabling injuries, you may get sued, and you may be paying huge sums for their ongoing treatment, etc.

If the victim of your shooting has relatives, they may choose to sue you, and you get to hire more lawyers. If they win a settlement, you can appeal. More money on lawyers.

And, you might end up with mental problems from killing another human being. Think not? Look into it. Many soldiers suffer life long mental problems as a result of killing another person.

But, I'm sure none of this would happen to you. After all, this is Port Angeles, and you're a real man, like John Wayne and Ronald Reagan.

Yeah, its a little harsh to be shooting somebody. But I will say this, the kids do need to be taught a lesson.

Instead of wasting tax dollar to hire lawyers for these robbers who deserve to be in prison.

I don't watch any television. And I'm fully aware of how the system works, if I shot someone in my home that entered it with the intent of doing harm I am allowed that right of protection.

If I go off the deep end and shoot someone downtown it will just be alleged that I did and then I'll enter a stupid judicial system. At that point I'm pretty sure I wouldn't give a rats ass. :-)

If you shoot someone in your home and there's no witnesses just dump the low life out in the woods instead of calling the cops.

Oops... You forgot the obligatory “branding incident” and “garbage can baby” references… God it’s so hard to be a saint in Port Angeles…

But back to the issue at hand. You’re doing your books at 2Am, the day’s receipts stacked up on your desk, getting ready for the night deposit. The lights go out, you hear a crash, and now you have a meth fueled tweeker (Who else steals radiators to sell for scrap?) headed up the aisle with a crowbar in his hand. Option A: Die with a bashed in skull, trying to reason with your fellow man. Option B: Plug the bastard and take your chances with the cops. Of course, there are other options, like hiding under your desk in a puddle of your own pee and praying the bad bad man doesn’t find you and bash your skull in anyway, but I kinda prefer defending myself.

Yeah! The Port Angeles headlines are full of just these incidents. Can't get past the pages and pages of them to get to the day's Lotto numbers.

The examples used were of people sitting and waiting to shoot:

" They'll break into a shop where the owner is waiting there with a gun. Problem solved."

"One of these days, I pray that they break into some 60 year old man's house that is sitting in his living room with a shotgun."

Intent to commit.. Prior knowledge. Reasonable expectations. You know the phrases.

If you really think the issues are as simplistic as posted, go for it. It's your life.

That's only cool in western and other such movies.

Hey, folks, some of you don't seem to have a clear reasoning and view of life on this 'civilized' planet.

No one is saying that a lot of that is happening here, but some are ready for such if need be.

You don't have to believe in owning a gun to defend yourself, just call the cops if you get in a bad spot, and wait for them to show up, I don't care. :-)

Hey! I have the same rifle I bought 30 years ago. I can shoot the head off a dandilion from a long way off. Over the years, my friends and I have pinked away over a couple 6 packs on a sunny afternoon, many times. I can still hit that flower stalk from a distance that is hard to see.

Don't for a second think that I doubt my ability to "plug" a human anywhere I wish, with a rifle.

But that does not mean I don't understand the realities of today's legal system. You may want to play "John Wayne", and think it will turn out like in the movies, but I have better things to do with my life, thank you very much.

These idiot punks that are breaking into places may be an annoyance, but I'm not going to give them all I own, on top of it all!

Stupid is, as stupid does.

So tell me, had you ever heard of garbage can baby or the branding incident (in port Angeles) prior to their respective occurrences? So of course those things didn’t happen, right? Now tell me have you ever heard of a store owner or shopkeeper being murdered because they interrupted a burglary? Just because you haven’t seen it happen here before doesn’t mean you won’t read about it tomorrow.
We saw a handful of terrorists armed with box cutters take over three different airliners in part because the passengers on board had been conditioned their entire lives not to fight back. Just sit tight, let the authorities handle it. Yeah, ok. As you said, “It’s your life.”

Oh, Come on, WTF?! You are losing credibility, big time.

By your logic, we sit at home in fear, after reading of any and all possible harm that might come to us. Don't drive anywhere, because car crashes occur. Don't have surgery, because hospitals make fatal mistakes (many more than burglary shootings or terrorist attacks, each year). Don't walk outside, because drunken drivers hit pedestrians. Etc, etc, etc.

This was the very premise of the Bush/neocons, which lead to the "Patriot Act", and many of our rights being taken away. Be afraid. Very afraid.

With your analogy, all airline passengers will be carrying fire arms?

Step back, and think this through.

Actually the Patriot Act is an excellent example of what I’m talking about, as was the stolen election of 2000. The anesthetized population of this country simply sits on its collective fat ass and lets this stuff happen, waiting for somebody else to do something. Of course I’m not talking about firearms on airplanes, but somebody might have punched Mr. Terrorist, if they hadn’t been raised to believe that defending themselves is barbaric and wrong. The logic of your “argument” doesn’t hold water. And, I imagine, neither would you in a confrontational situation. As far as credibility, you have none. You post as “anonymous”, and as such could be the Edna troll, or anybody else for that matter. Man up there powder puff; get yourself a screen name, so we can tell who’s who.

Like "WTF?" is any less anonymous than "anonymous"? At least BILLY has the balls to post a picture of himself, and stand by his words.

But, neither create nor instill credibility if the writings are crap. WTF? resorts to insults, but doesn't really address the points.

And that is too bad. I'll assume by the recent machismo in the writings that WTF? is a male. He used to have my admiration for the way he would cite relevant facts, and make a point, laced with insults or not.

But recently, it seems like something has changed. His abilities to make a real point in defense of his views have waned, and it is now a lot more "flailing". Sad to see. I did enjoy reading his stuff for awhile.

Credibility comes with the value of the comment. Good names lose their credibility every day.

You mean when the self-important ass I was wailing on was a conservative one. You're just another deluded NeoLib that gets all crazy when somebody disagrees with ya, sugar. I'd track back through your asinine posts and half assed "points", but It's just too hard to sort out the "Anonymouses"...

Again, first with the insults. You don't know me, nor my personal political views.

That's okay, as it reflects on you, not me.

I was raised on daily debate, and have no fears of someone disagreeing with me. Actually, I enjoy the sport.

But I did learn many years ago that insults do not advance one's position on an issue. Led along, people often do a damned good job of showing their weaknesses.

"Self-important"? Hmmm, I wonder how many readers of your posts would come to that conclusion?

Well this appears to be a case of the self-important whiney neo-lib pot calling the cranky obnoxious new-dealer kettle black. Raised on debate? Right… When have you ever cited verifiable facts in one of your arguments? When have you not avoided the point of a post you didn’t like, and cherry picked some statement to argue with? For you it’s far better to insult a whole town full of people with crap about garbage can babies and branding incidents than it is an individual tossing in everything but the kitchen sink when he’s challenged. Your posts have no more merit than the Edna troll; they’re just coming from the left side. And for you that’s all that matters. As I said earlier, you’re all for me jumping some conservative, but when it comes to you, well, then I’m a big headed meanie…
I don’t see a lot of difference between the tactics and deportment of Neo-Libs or Neo-Cons. Pretty much the opposing sides of the same bent coin. The same stunted view of history, the same blissful ignorance of basic realities, the same simple minded us/them mentality, the same unfounded smug superiority. My thoughts are my own. I don’t do politically correct and I don’t suffer fools. My screen name allows you to take me to task for my mistakes and or misstatements. Yours allows you to hide.

Again, you run off on a topic that just makes little sense. By your own writings, you seem to be pretty sure of who I am, and write your pointed insults accordingly. You feel like you can identify me well enough to say the following ( taken from your own posts):"You're just another deluded NeoLib that gets all crazy when somebody disagrees with ya, sugar."

You're just caught up in your own ego BS.

Step back, and get back to helping this community. You have the ability, if you don't get lost in the ego BS.

There are no blazing gun John Waynes in Port Angeles. Just some folks putting in their time to help, everyday.

And, of course, others.
