$10 Million Lawsuit Against Olympic National Park

John Messina, a personal injury lawyer in Tacoma, is filing a wrongful death suit against Olympic National Park. The lawsuit is being filed as a result of the death of Bob Boardman, who was fatally gored by a mountain goat last October.

The wrongful death and personal injury claims have totaled $10,022,700. John Messina said:

“We are intending to file a wrongful death suit. Negligence is the basis. Our goal is to seek justice in this case and wake up the park system.”

I addressed that on the PDN fish wrap site.

Ah, I see that the PDN deleted all the comments there, they don't like the truth from others.

I have now lost all respect for (and sympathy for) Susan Chadd. The first four letters of wilderness are WILD. Accidents happen, and, unless all our National Parks remove all bears, big cats, goats, venomous snakes and bees, every so often someone is going to get killed. It's the risk we all take anytime we go out into the forest, the beach, our National Parks, etc.

Massage therapy? A claim for YOUR son, Susan? I'm sorry, but, your grown son is NOT entitled to make millions off of the loss of your (at the time very new) husband. All of this is making you look greedy and horrible. And yes, Susan, I know you, and I knew Bob (a little). I can't imagine he'd want you to take this dark path. What are you thinking???

A 60 year old mans life isn't worth ten million bucks. I'm 68 and I can assure you that it isn't worth two bits.

If you are going to wander around in the wilderness like I do all the time it stands to reason that you are responsible for yourself being as there's other critters out there and this isn't a Walt Disney world.

If you don't want to risk your life around them don't go there, go to the damn game farm, you can't expect the National Park folks to hold all your hands and protect you out there.

GO AT YOUR OWN RISK, IT'S THEIR HOME, NOT YOURS !!

If there is a judgment against the park who pays for it? YOU DO!! After all, you are the taxpayers.

I wouldn't blame the park if they just stopped allowing you monkeys into it.

If you do go into it pack a gun, it's legal now, not that it ever mattered to me, I'm well aware that I could go into any National Park campground and raise a small army.

Don't recall ever hiking into the hot springs without a gun in my pocket, I'm not stupid enough to not be prepared.

Mr. Boardman loved the wilderness, the Park, and the animals. There is no way he would agree to any of this. This is a shameless (and shameful) attempt to gouge money and it makes me sick.

It is tempting to quote Shakespeare..."The first thing we do is kill all the lawyers."...But, instead maybe we should put them to work doing something useful like cutting firewood or growing garden veggies for the under-priviledged.

Would that be the same Shakespeare that said, "Hell is empty and all the devils are here."

Hiker told park of aggressive goat before his death.

So why was he still out there inviting trouble? And not packing a gun?

I'm not saying he was a stupid man, I didn't know him, but he sure wasn't using good judgment.

Upon my death I expect all of you to have fun with it, I insist on it.

Toss me on a pile of driftwood at low tide and talk about what an unusual man I was while you toast me.

Drink beer and do happy naked pagan dancing.

Gotta go now....

BBC, you should infer from the silence that most readers believe you to be a blthering, blathering deluded, and likely sodden fool who lowers the intelligence level of any post you spew on.

And sorry to say that that is just about every post. Don't you have a lawn that you can scream at people to stay off?
