Why would an outgoing city manager have anything to say to anyone?

They are perfect for each other.

Barf.
Another reason to avoid anything to do with the PABA. I suppose that they'll give him a going-away cake, too, that says something "positive".

LOTS of mountain bikers around town. In the parking lot of Safeway where it was 54. In the parking lot of Albertsons where it was 56. In the parking lot at Goodwill where it was 55. Oddly, none at McDonalds. Saw one guy downtown (NICE BIKE BTW), he was freezing, where it was 48 and very windy.

But where was the welcoming committee? Don't these guys spend money? Maybe the tents blew over downtown and I missed it?

Duh, we should be grateful for ten sentences (ten paragraphs) in the PDN last week.

Please, Mr. Myers, do not let the door hit you in the ass on your way out.

Your main claim to "fame" is that you were "better than Mark Madsen." Which is something akin to being a little less corrupt than Karen Rogers. Not much.

If the City had been less secretive in the selection process that resulted in Myers being hired, the mistake of hiring him could have been avoided. Instead, the worst council ever (Rogers, Williams & cronies) concealed the names of the manager candidates from the public and then secretly made the final selection. As a result, Myers and his wife never had a chance to meet a cross-section of their future neighbors, and the public never had a chance to meet and give feedback to the council about him.
It soon became obvious to everybody that Myers was not a good fit for Port Angeles and Port Angeles would never feel like "home" to Myers. I suspect he was checking out mentally and starting to look for a way out of here within the first few months of his arrival.

Amazing how this little city can screw up pretty much EVERYTHING it gets involved with.

Yeah, I'm sure Mayor Kidd (a long time PABA member, along with Karen Rogers and Larry Williams) will present Meyers with her "going away basket", and everyone there will be fawning all over him.

And, so we turn yet another page as Port Angeles fumbles along.

I agree with anon 5:31. We have a beautiful area for biking, mtn and road... Lots of stuff for the outdoor sports enthusiast, lots of possibilities for the extreme sports crowd... And yet it's pretty much an afterthought if it happens at all. While people are traveling -- confirmed travel -- to zip line locations, we can't even get that off the ground. When we do get a bike race or a kayak fest, there's barely a mention from our chamber. You look at tourist books from other areas you see professional photos of people wandering around beautiful landscapes. Ours has thumbnail shots of someone holding a crab. I guess the Authentic Northwest doesn't include doing anything physical.

Just to clarify, I'm not opposed to the Crab Fest, just feel PA's overusing that one picture.

It amazes me how many people here think their way is "it". That there's only one reason everyone in the world would come to Port Angeles. That there's only one type of job for the area. Period. We need a mix and to realize that these things aren't mutually exclusive.

@ Anon 2:42: I guess you do not ascribe to the big posters saying "No more wilderness.."

The locals are all about rape, pillage and plunder. What is wrong with you? Get with it, get out there, and rape with all you got!

Very nice new digs for Country Aire. Very nice job rennovating the building.

Nice to see local people working together to make Port Angeles a better and more future-oriented city.

Even the mentally challenged homeless guy who screamed at me as I walked in, seemed to be a spring in his step and a twinkle in his eye.
