Demolition and Redevelopment of PenPly Site
According to the Port of Port Angeles, demolition of the Peninsula Plywood buildings on Marine Drive should begin in about a year. Port Executive Director Jeff Robb said:
“This is our highest priority.”
The Port expects to be ready to redevelop the site by 2014.

If that weren't such a cold, windy, toxic site, or if it were closer to Port Townsend, that would be a great place to occupy!
So long as they're cleaning up this site...Can they also just help clean up our town by scraping the three Port Commissioners out of their offices and sending them all to a landfill somewhere? Pretty please?
Demolition cannot come soon enough. First Rayonier, next Pen Ply, finally Nippon. THAT's what I call a true Waterfront Improvement Plan.
I guess there are not enough vacant sites in Port Angeles, already?
thank god, one less eye sore
Recall Cherie Kidd. NOW!
It will make a nice little green area being as I don't see things getting better here in the next 20 years.
Oh,com'on. Facebook will buy the parcel for a billion dollars, and build an amusement park on it. Port Angeles will become more famous than Los Angeles.
You haters just need to stop hating, and see reality.
Yay, another place to walk your dog, play frisbee and fly kites!
Wow, I sure hope we can funnel our tax dollars into this as quickly as possible. Time is of the essence. Our local economy suffers if we don't. Same with the Race St. bridge, the polluted harbor, the Rayoner Site, Lincoln Park, Civic Field, and the new waterfront. Heck, in these good times in which taxpayers still want to invest, might be a good time to do what PT is doing, tear up the sidewalks downtown and see what's down there and bring our infrastructure up to 2012 levels? Do any of you people have any idea how nice parts of Europe are now? Demnark? Finland? Come on, people!

I believe they have high taxes and walk a lot and don't make pecker extension boats.
Correct me if I'm wrong though.
I'm emptying out my bank accounts to invest in Port Angeles, right now.
Reality isn't pretty, lets pretend that the problems will be corrected if we toss enough money at them.
Billy, the money to demolish and develop the former Pen-Ply site isn't coming from "us", it is coming from those wacky nerds at Facebook, remember? They have billions to spend, and Port Angeles is JUST the place for them to come to get fleeced.
Yes, because there are so many reasons for a software company to move to Port Angeles...
"Yes, because there are so many reasons for a software company to move to Port Angeles..."
So many reasons for ANY company to move to Port Angeles. 150 years later, and we're still waiting!
No software company would WANT our crappy fiber optic with it's yo-yo like speeds, and ONE SOURCE (overpriced at that). The city hamstrings development again with this nepotism.
It's to bad jobs are leaving that area. How long will it take for them to return to that spot?
How many years will it take to put 140 people back to work in that area after it's gone.?
