City Might Crack Down on Parking "Movers"

At the request of the Port Angeles Downtown Association and the Police Department, the City Council will be taking up a proposal to modify the city parking ordinance.  If it's approved, you will no longer be able to avoid a parking ticket by moving your parked vehicle within the parking space.

The proposed modification will also restrict how long a vehicle with a Disabled placard can remain in the same parking space.

Besides taking away parking from disabled people (I heard THIS TOO, can you believe that person!!) and rasing utility rates, is there any way to reaccess properties and collect retroactive taxes? Half a million doesn't go far these days, maybe the bank will pay?

Was purchased in 87 for 165K. Peaked at 218K in value. Around that time, was morgtaged (or cashed out) for half a million at the height of the bubble in 07. Gets a 4, above average construction, probably in 2007.

Seems like taxes should have been higher, on such a large house/commercial property with such good quality construction and such a large morgtage, or "withdrawl".

My point being maybe the taxes should be higher, when comparing it to other properties. Way, way, way, way, higher.

And I think we should review other properties, and what they were accessed at, at the height of the bubble. I guess it's tough though, to tell which place is worth more.

Best to leave it to the pros!

I must say it's awfully sweet of Clallam to not knock down the value too much, the last couple of years. I know I hate it when that happens, depreciation.

Just some thoughts. If this doesn't work, I'm sure there are other fees we can stick all the lazy people with to keep the gears oiled.

Reminds me of the freeloading veterans. Thank goodness the republican senators that co-authored the veteran job bill KILLED it in the Senate today.

There are going to be so many disabled vets wandering around in a few years, we better get rid of all the public parking spaces, lest they camp out in them.

The handicapped parking issue is real to people who are trying to make a living downtown. When the lee hotel was given permission to turn it into an apartment complex, it was agreed that the tennants would not be parking on the street. Of course, a few years down the road they starting renting to people with cars. Now all of first street is full of people who park there all day and live at the lee hotel. It wont fix the problem, but it will help

There are a large number of disabled parking placards in the hands of many able-bodied people; we've all seen it. They are also the ones who intentionally abuse the privilege they don't deserve. Disabled people rarely abuse privilege and indeed should have those spaces available to them 24/7 if needed.

much ado about nothing. Business as usual. Find a way to ticket, fine, assess a fee.

You're sure about that, are you?

"You're sure about that, are you?"

Last I knew, it was illegal for anyone without a disabled card to park in those spaces, so, they SHOULD be available to disabled people 24/7.

like most of the comments here, people open there mouth without facts. 4 hour time limit for folks with handicapped permits. This is a direct result of the tennants who live at the lee hotel, who already have designated parking, that they do not use. All parking lots have handicapped parking this does not include those. this is for public parking spots. If anyone wants to debate please come see me.
