Given the PABA just voted to give money to the realtors who want to over turn the Dungeness River water rule, what kind of reception do you think Ms. Barkuis will get?

Is someone running against her? I'd like to vote for that someone.

Hey BBC, the land we took isn't free, now, is it?

I know land prices in Port Angeles have dropped in recent years, and haven't risen post-economic crisis as they have elsewhere. But, the White Folk in Port Angeles sure aren't giving the land away for free.

@ 9:03 AM,

Land here isn't cheap even if the prices has gone down a bit, there are 4.5 acres on Hooker Road for 89 K.

I'd like to live on Hooker Road but for that kind of money I can get a lot more land in Montana or Utah.

Stuff occurs to me, it has occurred to me that I moved here during a brain fart.

Like Cherry Kidd moved back here during a brain fart. She loved the governors mansion in Georgia where she could wear her frilly dresses and twirl a parasol while batting her eyes.

So, this begs the question, Billy. You miss the govs' mansion, too? Miss twirlin' that parasol in your frilly dress and battin' your eyelashes?

Just funnin' ya.

I didn't move here because I thought Port Angeles was so wonderful. I was so depressed, for months. Driving around, thinking "What did I do so wrong so as to end up here?"

Ya learn to survive.

@ 3:13 PM,

After 15 years of helping a most wonderful woman stay in her home until she died I just got old and don't have the energy to move again.

Unless I win the fucking lotto.

Kudos to the Downtown Assoc. for rejecting the take over efforts by Tim Smith and crew under the supposed "Port Angeles United" false flag.

Clearly, there is nothing "United" about the effort. How many meetings have Smith and Haugewood had over the last 8 months or more, trying to convince others in town of their plans?

And now that the PADA board votes to retain their representation of downtown interests, Smith's true colors start to show.

Too bad the PABA has gone down hill, and lost what it once had; credibility as an independent voice. They can thank Tim Smith for that.

Typical of Port Angeles. One step forward, two steps backwards.

Bob Lumens should be on the city council!

Bob Lumens behaves like a drama queen instead of a Board President. The entire Downtown Board has acted like a dictatorship, dictating to our members for too long! They aimlessly waste our monies, mostly on a lame director, and have NOT kept up our public parking lots. The Board has ignored polling the membership because they know they haven't many supporters left. At least Mr. Smith has shown the courage to call them on NOT fairly representing all our interests. The City should also show some courage and stop funding the PADA Board and their useless director immediately.

Wish we had the courage to state our downtown business. But unless things pickup by Fall, frankly, I'm out of business. So, things are dicey enough.
Still, for what it's worth, in our opinion, the downtown PADA association board (and their so called director, LOL)have not EVER supported our business what-so-ever! None of them have EVER even stepped in our store.
They are totally out of touch, act like GODS! and I hope people start seeing them for the bullies that they ARE!

Why does City Hall continue to cover for baffoons like Candy Man?
He promises one thing, one day, another thing another day, and then, changes his mind again? OH, excuse me, he changes the boards mind.
What a jackass.
What a bunch of jackassess, or is that a herd of jackasses?

Lumens for City Council?
OMG!
Talk about out of the frying pan, into the FIRE. LOL!
Here's another example how there are so many outright morons in Port Angeles, that PA ought to market it has a fact, as a tourist destination!
Up in lights at the city limits, "Welcome to Port Angeles the Idiot Capital of the Pacific Northwest".

Tim Smith, "courage"? Seriously?

This is a guy who sneaks around, he himself saying he "provides intel" on area people, groups and activities to help his cronies, the very people who have prevented Port Angeles from moving forward.

The PADA Board is definitely less than wonderful, but Smith and Haugewood have long ago demonstrated how untrustworthy they are.

Just more of the same in Port Angeles, all these years later.

PABA was THE organization that finally brought all the pa business groups together, despite the uphill battle where others failed.
As a PABA member I am quite satisfied with how our board members, who always seek membership input and who carry out our majority rule, perform.
I expect it to continue, if our Association and the Chamber unite.
Vice President Tim Smith has been an steadfast example of our organizations long time commitment to the private sector business community.
I hope Smith runs for City Council!
At least Smith calls a spade a spade!

18 comments and not a single rant about teabaggers? I'm disappointed in you all!

@9:34, I know! After what Michelle Bachman said yesterday about "the gays", and the storming of the Unitarian Church's services in the south by the anti-abortionists, we need a new word, so it's like a "time out". Most Republicans have taken it to a new sadistic, disgusting level, not envisioned by many founding teapartiers. Ha ha, teapartier! That's what we can call them, TEE-PAR-TEE-AAY, like you know, the cool way to pronounce Target, Jacques Penne, ya know, roll your eyes, say, oh, he's such a "tee-par-tee".

So, gee, the city FINALLY finds the guts to stop the flow of money to the painfully obviously useless PADA...Just like Max Mania was advocating, what, five years ago? I guess it takes at least that long for any sort of reasonable idea to resonate in the empty halls (and heads) of City Hall.

At least Smith and Haguewood are willing to publically offer some degree of community support and leadership. They should be commended for their conviction, contributions and courage to risk having their names, faces and opinions publically displayed as opposed to hiding behind anonymous blog rants like yours. What community leadership have you offered? Zero.

Funny! Trashing somebody for posting anonymously, by posting anonymously! Too funny.

You must be new in town, or really not paying too much attention.

You say Smith and Haugewood should be commended. Maybe you don't understand what is being discussed in this town, cuz these folks are the very same "leadership" that has gotten Port Angeles into the trouble it is now.

Yeah, they got balls to come back to the very same people who they've mislead in the past, and try to convince the hillbillies that THEY are the solutions to the very problems THEY created.

But, if you feel you haven't had Port Angeles trashed enough, yet, go for it. I don't know how many times you need to learn the same lesson before you figure it out, but obviously it is more than, geeeez, how times so far? I lost count.

It is hard to make a difference in this city, those running it don't want your ideas, just your support.

Hey Billy. You know that those running things do so because we let them.

We could do things differently.

No, not likely. We're too busy fighting each other over really stupid things. The so-called leadership can just keep doing what ever they want, and they know it.
