Ah, Nippon's butt boy, Steve Tharinger. He's a sleaze and a shoo-in.

Again, it is sad that everyone is not as perfect as you are. Right in every action, flawless in every deed.

I've sat on committees with Tharinger over the years. I know without any doubt he is a decent guy who puts in an incredible amount of work. I've sat in work sessions with him, and seen the huge packets of documents he reads through, to be conversant on the issues. And, he is conversant.

The Nippon BS put virtually every politician on the Peninsula in a bad place. The legislation was in place for government to support so-called "green energy" projects.

Yeah, he isn't god on earth, but he is a decent guy who works hard. Better than most, in that arena.

4:27 - Nippon apologist! The place puts anyone who wants to FREAKIN BREATH in "a bad place"! Want more? Sheesh!

Nice to know, though, that "Moneybags Tharinger" is nice enough, reads a lot, and is conversant on the issues. I feel SO sorry for him, poor baby, being in "a bad place", at least he has you.

Some people are simply jealous of Steve and, in their deluded, paranoid minds, create these wild fantasies of him as a bag man and election fixer for Nippon. This manure is then spread thin amongst their equally deluded and highly gullible supporters by word of mouth and on their blogs.

Anon 4:27 -- I join you in disgust for those people (Anon 11:09) who believe themselves superior to people (like Rep Tharinger) who actually try to make things better for others. It is so much easier to just sit and gripe than it is to try to make a difference.

Just remember, when you vote, Tharingers not so little local rip offs;
(2010) - As Salmon Coalition Chair, he paid himself almost $600K in salmon recovery $$.
(2011) - Still hungry for the public's tax money, he double dipped as a County Commissioner and State Rep promising he'd pay back the County. County records show he paid back $300.
What a joke.
(2014) - Still a crook!

@Anon 8:10

Misinformation repeated does not make it right, or true.

"(2010) - As Salmon Coalition Chair, he paid himself almost $600K in salmon recovery $$."

Actually, this is not true. He was paid for the property he owned that was part of a salmon recovery project, just like the owners of the former 3 Crabs property, and every other propeerty taken over to be used for public benefit projects.

And, he didn't pay himself. There were multiple committees with dozens of represetatives of the Tribes, citizens' groups, etc that all read the reports, considered the options, and voted for the project.

Or, did you expect him to just give away his property for free?

A good and informative posting is worth repeating:
(2010) - As Salmon Coalition Chair, he paid himself almost $600K in salmon recovery $$.
(2011) - Still hungry for the public's tax money, he double dipped as a County Commissioner and State Rep promising he'd pay back the County. County records show he paid back $300.

(2014) - Still a crook!

Thank you to the original poster. You summed it up extremely well.

He IS such a nice, smart guy. All you have to do, is look around! His footprint is everywhere, and it warms my heart!

Ok, so the past was wonderful, we're the bee's knees, the envy of the entire PNW, but get this! Ask him about the future of the area, his plans for the area, it will BLOW your mind. The vision, the thoughtful stewardship he shows, while also growing our economic base. And the things he does for the disadvantaged, and his future plans/vision. Can anyone (alive) come close? No!

I'm SO PROUD to be a progressive, a Democrat, in such a beautiful area with such great people!
