A Boy and his Cattle Prod
Clallam County Commissioner Jim McEntire lashed out at the state Department of Ecology and its water management rule for the Dungeness River basin, saying “It’s getting close to cattle-prod time.”
The Olympic Resource Protection Council, a real estate interests / property rights organization, filed a lawsuit against the water management rule on December 31st, and now this organization is asking Clallam County commissioners to join their lawsuit.
There's only X amount of water, and there's a reason for the Sequim area's “rain shadow” designation; not to mention Governor Inslee's drought emergency declaration. Perhaps this isn't the right time or place for drilling new wells and building new developments, IMHO.

Speaking of taking silly positions. We see McEntire again staking out a brain dead stupid position concerning the Dungeness water situation.
A week or so ago, the Governor declares the area in a drought emergency. Even in "normal" times, Sequim only gets 16 inches of rain a year. Google that, and see what other areas get so little rainfall. It has long been described as a "desert".
Ecology, who is mandated to look after such things, steps in to set up some kind of organized system to balance all the needs. Why? BECAUSE LOCAL GOVERNMENT DIDN'T!
What DID local government do? Bowing to the real estate/developers, as McEntire is now, they gave away water rights to more water than there is in the flippin' river! Smart guys, they.
So, continuing to demonstrate how smart they are, and how much they care about our future generations,
these folks are suing Ecology over the water system during a drought emergency! Obviously, being concerned about NO WATER during a DROUGHT EMERGENCY doesn't make sense for these smart guys.
What sad excuses for humans.

"Getting close to cattle prod time"?
Yeah, someone needs to put a cattle prod up McEntires' ass, and shock some common sense into that guy!
Is this guy on heavy meds, or what? Honestly.
What an embarrassment to Clallam County to have an elected official who is so arrogant and misogynistic as to threaten the female director of a state agency via references to a cattle prod.
What a slime ball!
Hard to believe people take Commissioner McEntire seriously. Look at the things he says?!
I agree with Anon 8:25 What an embarrassment.
A "drought emergency" in a rain shadow desert, and this so-called leader thinks opposing water management plans is a good idea?
Who benefits from selling land, building houses or moving people to a water scarce area? Besides the real estate agents, of course.
Where is the "leadership" in creating a problem like this? It is clearly no secret that the area is water scarce. Why is this guy wasting taxpayers money even using staff time to consider opposing the water plan that was developed over all the last however many years?
And, why does this guy(and that group that is suing the state) think he can just over-ride all the years of work done by all the people to come up with the plan? Is their time and effort worth nothing, because a special interest group, concerned only for themselves, unrealistically wants unrestricted use of water in a water scarce area?
Why should anybody volunteer for County boards and committees, if their years of work will be disregarded like this?
Is this a demonstration of how Jim McEntire thinks things through?
The monkeys here sort of amuse me, instead of building water tanks they build turd tanks.
And, as expected, Scott Nagel's latest effort to get the public to fund him has failed:
“Our Lincoln is still there and we are still here. This is Port Angeles. Our town doesn't quit. We still have a theater to save,” the video said.
Nagel did not return calls Monday or Tuesday."
Yep. There is still a way for the hucksters to try to part a fool and his money, right here in Port Angeles.
As seems to be the norm.
So, Serenity House is serving 4,000 people. And there are 19,000 people in Port Angeles?
How many people are the other groups like Serenity House serving? How many people in Port Angeles are needing support and help, because they can't afford to make ends meet?
Any wonder "Light up the Lincoln" failed? Seems lots of people are having trouble lighting up their own homes, in Port Angeles.
Did you see the article about the consultant the Port hired that said air service from Port Angeles was "absolutely" viable?
What drugs are these people on?
How many airlines have come and gone from Port Angeles now? None of them could make it here, even though they all are very successful to this day in other cities.
But this consultant does a study, and tell the Port commissioners what they want to hear. (Aren't we glad pot is legal in Washington?)
Never mind that the city says the residents are "below average in incomes". That so many need assistance paying their bills.
Wonder how much that consultant got paid?
"Did you see the article about the consultant the Port hired that said air service from Port Angeles was "absolutely" viable?"
Consultants can say any rosy thing they think they want others to hear because in the end they have the fee and are not accountable. I think I'll be an over paid consultant in my next life.
