As reported in today's PDN, the City is telling citizens not to be concerned. Use water like there is no tomorrow.

In fact, faced with the State and Federal pronouncements that the region is officially in a drought, the City re-affirmed it's "experiment" in providing cheap water to area users, so that they will be encouraged to water their lawns.

"The City Council adopted it to “green up” the city. Lusk said the “flat rate” was “an effort brought by citizens to bring a different look to how the city presents itself.”

“We’ve got a problem of a brown community,” Whetham said Tuesday.

Coarse glacier soils don’t retain the region’s plenteous rainfall but allow it to drain away.”

OH! Wait a minute.

The City told us a completely opposite set of "FACTS", saying that the areas glacial soils were so cement-like, that they wouldn't allow water to soak through. That is why we had to build the "most expensive project in he City's history" at $50 million. Remember?

So which is it?

Or, is the City staff just saying what ever sounds good, to get the City Council and public to go along with whatever they want?

Using water that undergoes filtration and treatment to bring it up to potable (drinkable) water standards on a lawn is very wasteful.

Port Angeles City staff don't know what the truth is. It is a foreign concept to them. They only know how to manipulate the public with made up information they come up with to suit their needs.

They know nobody cares.

We see that the Governor cares. He declared OUR county to be in a "drought emergency".

"Hardship is on the horizon.." the State announced Friday.

Hello? Port Angeles? Are you awake? Paying attention?

With any luck, you'll be saying that though the summer, Billy.

Otherwise, the rains now will be growing the brush that will be feeding the wildfires later on in the season.
