Shop ‘Til You Drop this Thursday in Port Angeles

This Thursday, more than 45 Port Angeles stores — most of them downtown — will be open until 8 p.m. It’ll be Port Angeles’ fourth annual Shop ‘Til You Drop Night — 5 to 8 p.m. There'll be door prizes and special discount prices.

In addition to the stores being open, there will be a Santa Claus in front of The Toggery. Next door, the First Street Haven will be serving hot cider. The downdown will also have live music from Double Exposure, husband and wife DJs.

Five stores outside of downtown will be open and there will be free shuttle buses between these stores and downtown P.A.: Something To Crow About, Franni’s Gift Expressions, the Ragged Edge, the Gifting Place and Past Tyme Present Tyme. The shuttle service is provided by All Points Charters and Tours.

The PDN article (it isn't in the online PDN) doesn’t mention anything about the Christmas Parade, which I thought was supposed to be this Thursday. Since last year’s parade was so puny, maybe they decided not to bother with it this year.

This event was organized by Betsy Reed Schultz, owner of the Tudor Inn Bed and Breakfast in Port Angeles.

I'm going to enter a dumpster into the parade.

Spicers Deli: Today's article in the PDN was the first I heard about it. It wasn't listed in the online PDN or any other websites I could think of (i.e. the Chamber of Commerce's Event listings). That's the trouble with Port Angeles -- they stage an event and then they forget to tell people about it.

Last year's Christmas parade was put on by the downtown association. That explains why it was so lame and why there probably won't be one this year. If that group was any more lame they would collapse under their own weight. Which they will hopefully do sometime soon. They serve no purpose at all.

The Christmas parade has been cancelled this year due to a severe lack of interest. There was a brief to note about the parade's cancellation in the Novembere edition of that monthly "newsletter" that the Downtown Association sends. You might havemissed it among all the "how great we are" stuff they tend to print.

Thanks, anonymous. Yeah, I missed that all right. The PADA is so busy saying "We matter, we matter" that they can't get anything done. They treat everybody who tries to help so badly that nobody will play anymore. How sad is that?

The parade last year was a joke. I'm actually glad they're not trying that on again this year. We need confidence building, not another failure.

I understand the PADA has brought in two special guests to enliven the Shop 'Til You Drop event ... Gary Coleman and Mr. T will be in beautiful downtown Port Angeles from 5:00 PM until 7:58 PM greeting the throngs of shoppers and adding to the holiday cheer!

Whatchoo talikin' 'bout, Port Angeles? It's Gary Coleman and Mr. T!

I was going to say "Bah Humbug" this year but Gary Coleman and Mr T?

Hold the phone! I'll be right there! Will there be T-Shirts? Autographs? Photo-ops? I mean I have all of A-Team and Diff'rent Strokes on DVD.

This shop til you drop night was excellent. Port Angeles should do stuff like this more often. Who says P.A. has to roll up the sidewalks every day at 5 p.m.? It's nice to see signs of a pulse downtown.

Congrats to Betsy Schultz for putting this together. I heard she applied to be the director of the downtown association. That would have been great. She would have turned that deadbeat useless organization into a functional organization that actually does things. That must be why that inbred bunch of retards chose one of their longtime members to be their "new" director, so they can keep on being a useless waste of space. If that braindead organization gets any more inbred they'll have to start playing the Deliverance theme song during their meetings.

That's nice, but did you see Mr. T or Gary Coleman?
