Juan de Fuca Festival 2008

This Memorial Day Weekend will be the 15th annual Juan de Fuca Festival of the Arts. The festival, as always, will be at the Vern Burton Center between Peabody, Lincoln, Fourth and Fifth Streets in Port Angeles.

The Festival starts tomorrow at noon and closes on Memorial Day at 7:30 p.m.

Click here for a complete listing of all the performers, the schedules and ticket price information. If you’d like to order a four-day pass online, click here.

It’s starting to feel like summer in Port Angeles (well, in every way but the temperature).

That figures, nice all-American nonpolitical family holiday, but if you're one of "them" you can't participate. (referring to previous comment) If you don't show blind obedience to the government then you aren't a "real" American and you can't march in the parade. Our founding fathers are turning in their graves.

It's cool to see Fourth Street closed off and lined with booths and vendors. Brings back those fond memories of when they used to close Laurel Street every Saturday for 4 hours.

"Veterans for Peace"...AKA pacifist appeasers who were known as "turds" in their respective units....
Usually booted out or served only one tour cause they "didn't want to be ordered" to do anything.
Henceforth, they hold a grudge against the military and the government in general.

This is Michael Lenox. I have recently closed both of my Port Angeles business locations namely: The Relax Station and The Salad Station. I have remained quiet about our decision until now.

The reason we had to close The Relax Station is not a great mystery for most folks. We have been open for more than 2 years. The downtown construction on Laurel Street crushed our winter sales. In addition, because of the poor construction methods that went on forever, I was physically unable to enter my store in my wheelchair. I contacted the PADA, which did nothing.

The Salad Station is another story. We had to close so abruptly due to the former owners that we had a equipment lease with. They demanded immediate payment.

Sales allowed us to pay operating expenses for the restaurant and then some of our other bills. We had more "month left than money".

We had just started to gain some momentum to pay off our outstanding debt when we were forced to close.

It is a real shame that our two PA business did not succeed. PA organizations benefited by $23,463.98 last year from our charitable donations.

Lia and I are liquidating our personal and business assets to help pay off our debt. We are also selling our home and moving away from PA.

We truly appreciate our loyal customers and hope this town will experience a bright future.

Thank you Tom and Catherine. You are some of the most positive and caring folks I know. Again thank you for providing this great forum that informs the community without spin.

Michael
