Sandwich-Board Signs on Downtown Streets
The Port Townsend City Council is about to pass an ordinance banning sandwich-board signs from downtown streets, because they cause too much “clutter.”
About three years ago Port Angeles was battling over this crucial issue. With the economy in the shape it’s in, I would’ve thought that bringing in customers would be a higher priority than worrying about “clutter,” but that’s just me.
Michael Klupfell, owner of The Village Baker Café, told the council: “I've seen several cities that were micromanaged to irrelevance. If you sterilize the city, you lose the charm that makes people come here.”
And this is the subject of today’s online PDN poll — “Do you think advertising signs on the sidewalks of North Olympic Peninsula downtowns are clutter?”

Only crazy liberals put signs on sidewalks!
I thought it was those "crazy liberals" who were against signs on sidewalks. You know, "big government," "nanny state" and "meddling in the economy" and all that.

No, those that have things to sell do.
Just a quick comment to "Dizzie Lizzie" or Lizzie Jizzy" or whatever you want to call yourself: the comments about liberals are getting a little tiresome. Could you possibly make a constructive comment at least once in awhile? Thank you in advance.
Liz can only give out canned phrases that the learned from Rush. My parrot has more original comments than she does.
Sandwich boards. Mmmmm. That reminds me, has anyone tried Spicers Deli? I keep meaning to give their sandwiches a try.
Shouldn't read this blog on days I skip breakfast.
This is probably a post in itself, but does anyone think the AIA suggestions will be given any weight by our fair city?
They're making good suggestions, but of course not!
Whatever the AIG recommends, the city either won't do it or they'll say they "can't" afford it.
Someone has tried Spicer's, here is their review...

I'm risking a "that's what she said!" joke, but holy gosh that's a lot of meat! Definitely going to have to give Spicer's a try.
