No Taxis Allowed at Gateway???

According to a letter in today’s PDN, taxis are not allowed to stop at Gateway. Violators are charged a heavy fine.

Let’s see, a $14 million transit center which doesn’t allow taxis to stop there — does this make sense?

I've been away for a few days to the fun town, Port Townsend and the Kinetics Festival.

No, but maybe this does? PA can be seen as a boring town with way too many churches and so called christians in it and PA can be thought of as the POPES ASS.

Bwa ha ha ha ha ha ha!

You may have noticed my absence, but don't fear. My dear friend "Baby Doc" Duvalier was, in the parlance of our time, keepin' it real while I was away.

I've spent much of this last week buying up recently "remodelled" beach front property in Samoa and Indonesia. I have already made numerous profitable deals with certain real estate developers for this property. I'm sure those villagers can find jobs as busboys and maids in the luxurious casinos and deluxe resort hotels that will soon be built.

But to the evil at hand! I will tell you that the building of the Gateway transit center was a ruse to cover the construction of my Ultra Evil Underground Laboratory!

Yes, my insidious evil knows no ends and while you simpletons catch the bus and park your cars, you are ignorant of the evil mastermind who lurks in his laboratory below!

As for the taxis, my minions on the City Council have been most agreeable in setting up certain restrictions and imposing heavy fines on would be taxi-riders. The heavy fines are sent to my Swiss bank account, "Baby Doc" Duvalier, who runs the Clallam County Transit system, makes some money and my minions on the City Council will each be allowed to spend a day in one of the extremely cheap rooms in one of the luxurious resort hotels in Samoa or Indonesia. It's a win-win situation!

Good luck with that, I only visit low lying areas, I don't invest in them or live in them.

There are many things "overlooked" about the gateway. I don't understand why there isn't a "pull in" for pickup/drop off of passengers. I don't understand why the bathrooms are so damn creepy, the elevator is a cozy little moving sleeping compartment for homeless, there are far too few electric outlets for events within the pavilion (and elsewhere), that the pavilion wasn't at 'street level" instead of sunken.
Seems to me the whole thing was poorly thought out by people who do not, and have never used, public transit.

I think they just wanted something they thought was pretty and included the buss stop part in order to sell it to the public and get some funding that way.

There is an elevator? Rolls eyes.

Well, I guess the elevator is a better place for quickies for the homeless than on the steps. Ha ha ha.

Will a Segway with officer donut on it stay balanced while going down in an elevator? I often wonder about things like that.

It's a moot point, I'm sure, as Officer Donut doesn't seem inclined to spend any time at Gateway either. Where the hell is that guy?

I wonder why you can't consolidate your posts into one post instead of these mulptiple knee-jerk stream of consciousness posts you do.

I don't know, maybe he is waiting for a new battery for the Segway?

If that remark was made by Tom, it's pretty simple, I say things as they come at me. And they are not posts, they are comments. :-)

You see them hang out at the airport...once in a while. Mostly I think they hang out at home, and wait for calls.

Where do taxis hang out? I think there are only about two of them in town now isn't there?

Around six, seven years ago there was two taxi company's here but the best one suddenly disappeared one day.

I see Officer Segway down there all the time. I also see him traversing around town on said segway. Perhaps that's because I go downtown. Maybe some of you should hang out there more often? If you do, perhaps you don't look in the right places.
My only beef with Officer Segway is that he's fat. He needs to walk more.
I'm sure there are all manner of problems with the Gateway Center but I feel more secure where it is now than over there on Oak Street in no man's land. It's well lit, there are more people around and there aren't a ton of loitering homeless teenagers because there isn't a parking lot to loiter in.

Yes. There should be a taxi stand. There should also be buses on Sunday.

We have plenty of taxis in this town. We have two services and more than one car for each service. Taxis in this town are horribly expensive and I do feel sorry for the elderly people who have to call them on Sundays because of the lack of bus service. It's about 7 dollars (more + than -) from First and Lincoln to the college.

hey bus rider...you willing to pay $20 bucks a ride on Sunday? That's about what it would cost for the 20 riders that MIGHT ride that day. The reason there is NO bus service on Sunday is because Saturday is already a loser.
I'm not going to encourage more costs from the transit, when my property taxes are already too high...and my property valuation is insane (3x what the house was appraised for!!).
Forget Sunday service...we can't afford more wasted $$

Around six, seven years ago there was two taxi company's here but the best one suddenly disappeared one day. You mean Mike and his crew? You thought THAT was the BEST ONE? Ha, ha, ha. I guess if you were a worker who didn't need to be paid or a rider who didn't care when/if your cab showed up it was a great operation.

We have plenty of taxis in this town. We have two services and more than one car for each service. What are the two services? I know of one in Sequim and one in PA, is that what you meant?

I agree with others who said there needs to be a pick up/drop off area at the gateway - not just for taxis, but for anyone who needs to pick someone up or drop them off there. Right now it's a mess!
