Land-Use Permit Approved for Zipline

Dan Williams, project manager and CEO of Green Planet Inc., has received the land-use permit he needs for building a $1.8 million zipline course and eco-park. It will be on 40 acres of commercial forest south of Port Angeles, leased from the state Department of Natural Resources.

Clallam County Commissioners voted 2 to 1 to uphold the conditional use permit.

Green Planet will be operating passenger vans to take people from downtown Port Angeles to the park.

Thats a lot of money. Seems like it might never turn a profit. How many people would have to go zipping down for how many $ per head?

I'd say "yay!" but I believe he still has to come up with financing.

Meh.

Win or lose, at least if they build it, it will bring some construction jobs.

I'd have to say the business plan is based on delusion though. 2 million bucks, say you net $20 per head beyond basic operation costs, thats 100,000 zippers. Good luck with that.....

are they aiming at the oldster retiree audience?
That would be even more interesting. A good way to get gramps off of Medicare, for good.

I do hope Dan makes it. This is a new idea here.
I hope he has worked though his P&L to the finest detail.
I for one will be waiting at the bottom for fresh meals.

It said somewhere that its going to be 50-60$ per person, kind of pricey but honestly there isn't much to do if your young in port angeles so this will be awesome! Port angeles seems to be a retiree town more then a teenage fun land. This is a great idea, now if they could have a few more recreational things that everyone could enjoy that would be great too. I always thought about a go kart course at the old costco but the pud bought that out. Sad day.
