Kent Myers Applies for Job in Texas

Kent Myers has applied for the position of city manager of Corpus Christi, Texas. He wants to be closer to family members who live near that area.

Myers already notified the city council last month.

Hmmmm.. Doesn't this come pretty close to the State Auditors' investigations? The article says he told the city council a few weeks ago about his applying for this job.

I heard Larry Williams left town.

Madsen left.

Just wondering. You know, it just looks funny.

I wonder what made Port Angeles so attractive to Kent Myers in the first place? Could it have been something like the AIA Study Team found: Port Angeles looks so much better from a distance than up close?

How many thousands of dollars will this one cost us when he quits?

Oh, dear. This will be painful to watch. Myers applying for jobs elsewhere; not getting selected; having less and less control over his department heads (if he ever really had any control over them in the first place) because they know he's a short timer.
Unfortunate for everybody.

Although located in a beautiful natural setting, Corpus Christi is a polluted dump populated by redneck morons. Kent has a proven track record in a similar environment. He apparently feels he’s now ready to handle ten times the stupidity he’s managing now. Mr. Meyers is obviously not doing this for the money, if you factor the “per idiot” ratio into his compensation, you can see he’s taking a bath on this deal.

Can you blame him? He received a favorable (glowing) review and did not get a raise, that shows exactly what value the city council puts on him, (very little).

Good Luck Kent, i hope you get out of this racist community.

Mr. Myers, at least do a favor for the City before you leave and fire the Public Works Director.

I won't miss him, at all. I hope Corpus Christi hires him. What can we do to help him get the job?!

Well, as you likely know, the DPW is an ego maniac who threatens people who disagree with him. Oh!? Does this sound familiar?

Besides his offensive management style, he is "old school", and seemingly cannot accept that civil engineering continues to evolve. Because of his adherence to outdated technologies and approaches, Port Angeles residents suffer.

Just because of his habit of threatening people, he should have been fired long ago.

Who here remembers the big power consolidation at Community Development a few years back, that resulted in Brad Collins getting fired?

One of the upsides to Myer's leaving is that Max can come back to this blog as "The Watcher"!

Sad thing is that whenever the Director of Public Works leaves City employment he will continue to live handsomely on accrued vacation time, sick time, and public pension benefits. And he will probably collect these in addition to being paid to work in "semi-retired" part time for Exeltech, CH2MHill, or some another firm that has received lucrative contracts from the City.
He will laugh all the way to the bank.

What ARE you talking about? How does that sentence make ANY rational sense?

Oh, that's right. Sorry. Operational word was "rational".

No, Edna, no one but you ever thought that Max Mania posted here as "The Watcher". Only you are so obsessed as to continue, so long after you lost the election to him, to continue to waste everyones' time with these groundless accusations.

You really need professional help.

Maybe to avoid being a distraction from the community building and communication Tom is trying to facilitate here....

"Maybe to avoid being a distraction from the community building and communication Tom is trying to facilitate here...."

No kidding. There ARE honorable people out there, believe it or not (Not that the Teabaggers would know).

And, I don't get the logic that because The Watcher stopped posting after being hounded by that mindless fool, that some how means they are Max Mania? But, again, that assumes that logic is at play. Or thinking.

It is not illegal, or inappropriate for council members to write on blogs. As we see in the PDN, the council members will be given laptops, and have Facebook accounts. What's the difference?

It was a smear tactic from the beginning, and it is still intended to try to build some kind of negative momentum against Mania. The only people who will sign on are mindless fools to begin with, so, no reasoning with them.

"The Watcher's" voice has been silenced. This well-intentioned person has removed him or herself from the public discourse of this blog. A vital voice for transparency and good government has disappeared never, perhaps, to be heard from again.

How did we let this happen? Friends, we must look to ourselves for the answer!

come on, folks
"Watcher" just became another of us Anonymous..it's easier that way.
And all the accusations that it was Mania, is just retarded. But, then again, the trolls on this board couldn't think their collective way out of a paper bag.

Hey - did anybody connect the fact the Bart Irwin couldn't collect his Community Service Award at the Port meeting yesterday because he is in Corpus Christi? Maybe he is there shilling for Kent Myers to be the new city manager!
(Or - maybe he's interviewing for the job himself --- using as a reference the great work he did as a Port appointed member of the HarborWorks Board?)

Drat.
Opportunity missed (for us).
Myers did not make it into the group of finalists for the Texas job.

So - I hope he seizes the opportunity to start to demonstrate true leadership here, so that he might be a bit more competitive when the next Gulf Coast area job opportunity arises.
