Production Increase at Peninsula Plywood

In the past month, Peninsula Plywood has more than doubled production. And the company has added about thirty new employees.

Three weeks ago PenPly received $212,000 from the state Department of Commerce and $230,000 from investors. PenPly President Josh Renshaw said:

“We have the capacity, we have the orders.”

What a bunch of happy crap. I assume that some of the gifted public money went to a politically well connected public relations firm who will continue to churn out more of such phony news releases until the day PenPly closes and leaves the taxpayers on the hook for all the unpaid debts.

And they have significant continued unpaid debt. Paying slightly more than minimum wages.

Another fluff piece from the PDN.

This story makes no sense to me. As a former purchasing agent for K-Ply, I know basically how much it cost to run every departments within that mill. A amount of $212,000.00 is not enough to drag them out of the hole and all of a sudden be making any kind of profit. There are a lot of holes in this story and the truth was stretched more then one can imagine. Grant Munro wants the mill to make it because he needs the ring barker and log yard for his own personally gain, the logs in the log yard are not Pen Ply's, they buy their veneer.

This whole story is a smoke screen ??

No kidding. I read the story, and was just shaking my head. Talk about putting a positive spin on a tragedy.

Obviously, some folks think the happy crap is great. "Yeah, the car has a great color, doesn't it?" Never mind that it has serious underlaying mechanical problems, and is a death trap.

and another $230,000 from its investors.

I'm curious about these investors, I suspect that they just put up some money on short term loans and expect the money back soon from present orders, and with a good interest rate.

Investors do not lend money on low rates, generally speaking.

Just who is Randall C. Page anyway? Just a made up name as far as I can tell, there's no useful information in the blogger profile and no such person in the phone book.

Let's strip that down.

Randall C. Page can translate to Randall See Page of cheery crap and puts his own polish on it, for what reasons I don't know.

It's like the name Harrison Fyrre translates to Hair Is On Fire.

There sure is a lot of bullshit on the Internut.

I don't understand why he shows up here, and trys to get us all to look at the world the way he wants us to. If we don't, then he thinks it is okay to be what he says we shouldn't be.. an asshole! WTF?

Look at all the logs piled up at Pen Ply bound for China! Could somebody get to the bottom of whether Grant Munro LLC is paying rent to the Port for using the property as a log yard? Or, maybe Munro is "subleasing" the log yard space from PenPly, allegedly paying PenPly the rent, and the sub-leasing rent constitutes his "investment" in PenPly for purposes of qualifying PenPly to get the half million dollar grant?
This whole linkage between Munro LLC, PenPly, and the grant of public money to PenPly seems pretty suspicious.

I agree. But, don't look to the PDN to do any investigative reporting.

We all remember Grant Munro sitting on the City Council with Larry Williams and Karen Rogers. Need I say more?

Reading todays' article about the logs stacked up, waiting to be shipped off to China, it is interesting to see Munro say the "Gold Rush" is over. That the log market is softening. That, in their wisdom, the log suppliers flooded the market, resulting in a dropping of the price.

I think "WTF?" predicted this a short while ago, on this blog.

Hey Anon. 8:28 AM, July 11, 2011:

You've basically got it right. He's also "investing" his so-called "expertise" and PenPly is reporting that (for the purposes of the grant requirements) as being, essentially, equal to a cash investment.

Gee, who ever knew that an hour of Grant Munro's time was worth $500?

Hey Tom, did you see the PDN clip about Kenmore Air?

"Compared with the same month in 2010, Port Angeles-to-Seattle flights lost 8.2 percent ridership in March, 17.7 percent in April and 19.5 percent in May.

In June, the number rose to 27.5 percent, O’Neill said."

An almost 30% drop in ridership? Wow! Why has the ridership been dropping so dramatically, in such a short period of time?

And, I can't think that 2010 was a banner year, either. The economy (which they seem to be blaming this drop upon), was not so much better here, 1 year ago.

It isn't like Kenmore offers a service that most take on lightly. Most people plan trips on airplanes. Kenmores' service is limited to Seattle. Did that many people quit traveling?

What is the reason for this?

8:17 AM, July 12, 2011
Anonymous Anonymous said...

Kenmore's prices are too high for most people. Cheaper to drive AND PARK for a short trip, and way cheaper to take the "expensive" bus.
When people are coming to visit...it's the same price to drive to pick the up, head to Seattle, have lunch, then take the ferry back.
When ticket prices cost the same to get from Boing Field to PA, as it does from flying from to SeaTac it is hard to justify the expense.
As much as I like Kenmore, without a commuter ticket special, and without the ability to by a bulk number of flights at a discount price, I can't "afford" it. A luxury that I cannot justify. Add that to the strange flight times (which do not really connect well to the bulk of the flights from other airlines).
Come to think of it, I might be the 30% drop. I travel THAT much. Had over 50 flights on Kenmore last year, this year, none so far.

BBC..."Taoist is just monkey writings." No one who is truly spiritual would make a statement like that about a 3,000 year old philosophy that is about peace and harmony.
Here is something for you to think about while you are counting your bullets..."Taoist propriety and ethics emphasize the Three Jewels of the Tao: compassion, moderation, and humility, while Taoist thought generally focuses on nature, the relationship between humanity and the cosmos (天人相应); health and longevity; and wu wei (action through inaction). Harmony with the Universe, or the source thereof (Tao), is the intended result of many Taoist rules and practices."

Randall, you keep saying this. How stupid are you trying to present yourself as?

Look on this page, below the "Leave Your Comment" box, and anyone can see 4 posting ID choices. The bottom one is "Anonymous", and anyone can choose that at the click of a button.

Look back through the archives, and see that the majority of this blog's users make that choice, and post as "Anonymous".

Since you keep thinking and stating, in your obviously paranoid state, that ALL the posts on this blog made under "Anonymous" are made by one person, you ARE just that stupid.
