Moving Port Angeles Boat Haven to Rayonier Property
This idea was suggested at yesterday's meeting of the Port of Port Angeles. It was suggested by the Port's newest commissioner, Paul McHugh.

Like that makes any sense. As one PDN commentor said, just think about the scale of the breakwater that would have to be built to stop the waves coming in off the Strait. For starters.
Then there all the other issues.
Hey Paul, brilliant! All you have to do is get the idea past the Feds, the State, the locals, the tribes, the EPA...Oh, well, maybe it ISN'T so brilliant. In fact, maybe it's kinda sorta downright, uh, stupid.
Glad to see you're fitting right in down at the Port, Paul!
What a drip. McHugh must have absolutely no understanding of what makes a Port city a Port city: boats moored within a short distance of restaurants and the downtown. The folks who come and moor their yachts at the guest slips walk downtown and spend serious money on provisions and other things. This is not to mention that we have gazillion dollar mega-yachts being built and moored in the boat harbor, near the marine trade industries that service the yachts.
McHugh is an idiot to advance such an idea; and, yes, he does seem to fit right into his new post.
And that would cost how many wasted millions? What a brain fart, the marina isn't full now because they've raised the fees so much that many can't afford them anymore.
I got a kick out of the paper saying the port owns the airport. Hey, who owns the port? Isn't that supposed to be us?
Hey, leave the guy alone. I'm sure he has a mortgage to pay. And a majority of the voters love it - anything to make government look more stupid is ok in their eyes.
