City Council Urged to Reinstate Yvonne Ziomkowski
Former Port Angeles mayors Larry Doyle and Glenn Wiggins, and former Port of Port Angeles commissioner Corby Somerville are urging the City Council to reinstate Yvonne Ziomkowski to her position as finance director.

With a new city manager coming doesn't this change the scenery in the good old boys and girls club?
And they insist on finding their city managers out of this area instead of hiring a local good old boy or gal. .... LOL
Thanks for posting that letter Anon 4:58 PM. Would you mind sharing how you found it?
Holy crap what a letter! What a corrupt group of fools that would even consider hiring this thieving bitch back. I'd say prosecute the bitch but who wants to spend FIFTY years reading about the trial and appeals and holy crap think of how much it would all cost and how many more corrupt thieving fools prosecuting her would employ. What a corrupt county. Shudder.
I googled the line "I gave to Yvonne Ziomkowski, finance director" and it came right up on google with a link to the city manager's webpage. Lots of reports on there, didn't find the direct link but this document is public information. Thanks to the person who posted it.
Have at it. Probably a lot more on there. Google is fun, and free!
Just google the bitch's name.

BTW, Country Aire was BUZZING today! NEAT!!! Every register would develop a line, a long line, and they would clear them out within literally a minute or two - at least when I was there. Very, very cool. All that foot traffic, totally transforming a significant and vital part of our nice little city. Not only that, most of the items there were grown or made in the US or even Clallam County!
If you don't shop there, and question why you would even want to shop there, do you mind me asking why you hate America so much? Go buy your garlic powder made in China somewhere else - you have several great options in town...please. Leaves more of the good stuff for us.
But seriously, very nice staff, the new folks, and the very hard working and visionary old timers. GREAT JOB Country Aire!!!! Once the local veggies start coming in, it's going to be AMAZING!!!!
City website
Wowie Zowie. That certainly is telling. Wait until the old-timer bookkeeper retires, wait until the new city manager shows up, change the forms, neglect to inform anyone. Wow.
Now, why is the city council trying to reinstate this woman?
I think the decision to fire is as apparent as the trunk on an elephant's face.
6:51, it could have been obtained with a public records request.
"With a new city manager coming doesn't this change the scenery in the good old boys and girls club?"
How many years has the newly appointed city manager been working with all the same old cronies? Don't look for any real changes, any time soon.
"say hello to the new boss, same as the old boss" has been the same tired song for years in this town. We've had a string of crazy or corrupt city managers. The old boys are still trying to manipulate things, so until they up and die, (and their inept kids fail to hold up the family agenda) things won't change. Then, we'll see
Not being prosecuted IS NOT THE SAME as being innocent! Shame on her for taking advantage of her position to give herself benefits that others did not have available to them. The very definition of self-dealing.
Sigh...So MANY uninformed and/or ugly comments here...
"Just google the bitch's name." Nice, real nice. Say what you will about the situation, but once you resort to simply calling someone a bitch, well, it just degrades into name-calling. Stick to the facts, and keep your insults a little less mean and sexist if you want to make your point. Really, trust me. You'll come across a LOT better.
"What a corrupt group of fools that would even consider hiring this thieving bitch back." and "Now, why is the city council trying to reinstate this woman?" So far as I know, it is members of the public advocating for Yvonne to be hired back. From the mayor's comments it's pretty clear that the City Council can't directly hire her back, and won't be involved in any efforts to do so. If, however, you can direct me to quotes or information that in fact does show the City Council is behind this effort, please feel free to do so. I'd love to see it.
I'm not sticking up for any particular perspective here, but if this "discussion" is going to continue, it should be one that has the facts straight. I know it's so fun for some to get angry and spew, but it does no one any service when what gets spewed is devoid of truth.
@ 11:17 PM, May 02....
I'm certainly not expecting to see any improvements, here or anywhere else. I'd be pleased if the damn sun would just shine more.
It looks like it was posted on the city manager page but later removed. The city web site is such a joke.
Calling her a bitch does nothing to help the situation and only serves to further divide our community. Shame on you.
I do find the letter pretty damning, but keep in mind it is written from the city's point of view to justify a very high profile firing and protect themselves from a lawsuit. We still haven't heard anything from her side.
I looked at the year to date rainfall stats in the paper, we've had less than Sequim so far, and far less than Seattle's 20".
I'm going to whine anyway.
I find it odd that Ms.Ziomkowski is still ranting about "clearing my good name". It just seems like a broken record. People who have been indicted, even if not charged, should just shut up. Does she have evidence of being framed? Why didn't she go talk to the city manager when he offered? These are not actions of "good name" people. Makes her look guilty as sin. Meanwhile, what is the deal with the PDN pushing this non-story for two days in a row, and selectively removing comments? Why are two former mayors pushing so hard? I can see the frustration with the normal city workings to call the woman a B***H. The venting is venting, but we are all (presumably) adults. It doesn't detract from the discussion. Ignore it you're a big boy.
You all need some perspective? Port Angeles has been around for 150 years or so, run by the "good ole boys". These folks have had 150 years to make Port Angeles be something.
Look around. Are you impressed?
Want to wait some more, for things to "turn around"?
Good luck with that.
I agree. In the last 20 years all the money that the city has gotten for improvements had done what? An incubator that only secured loans and grants for friends. A former city mayor who's middle name should be "nepotism". Money from grants shuffled around and around, and (as rumor has it) given to various state candidates (for special treatment?). The railroad tracks that ran from here to Port Townsend pulled out (why??). Whole parcels of land on the city books which pay either no taxes or very, very small taxes (stuck in the 1950's?) The old boys have been bleeding this town dry.
The sooner you fools stop blaming past failures on your theories of hand-ringing conspiracies, the better. There may have been some bad eggs along the way, but it's your own ignorance that stands in your way now.
Acknowledge that we live in a pretty amazing place and focus your energies on how we can work to make it better. There's no boogieman to blame, just you. Either get on board or get the fuck out. It's your choice for now, but you've been warned.
"We've had a string of crazy or corrupt city managers. The old boys are still trying to manipulate things, so until they up and die, (and their inept kids fail to hold up the family agenda) things won't change. Then, we'll see"
150 years, and waiting.
In the same period of time, look what other communities have done.
Stay here and wait, or move to a community that actually is moving forward with a future? Hmmm.
8:43 I take it you'd like us all to chant "kumbaya"?
Those who advocate no negative chatter, are those who don't see that this town has a culture of corruption that will take some effort to eradicate. Its not conspiracy theories. Small towns, especially in Washington State, are notorious for corruption, nepotism, graft, and back room deals.
"There may have been some bad eggs along the way, but it's your own ignorance that stands in your way now."
And, "Either get on board or get the fuck out. It's your choice for now, but you've been warned."
Get on board with what? As the others say, over a hundred years has passed by, and Port Angeles is still a seedy little town.
And "warned"? Warned of what? You an' Hoss gunna come an' beat me up, or what?
As the others say, over a hundred years has passed by, and Port Angeles is still a seedy little town.
If I wanted to live in a seedy big town I would move to one. At this point I'd like to move to an even smaller seedy little town.
Na, I'd like to move to 20 remote acres and just drop into this shit bucket once a month for shopping and supplies.
