New Surveillance Cameras Along Port Angeles Waterfront

Twenty-eight new digital cameras along the Port Angeles waterfront will allow police officers to view images from their patrol cars as well as from police headquarters.  Eighteen of these cameras are digital replacements for already-existing analog cameras, and ten of the cameras are new.  The cameras currently cover the waterfront trail from east of the Red Lion to Francis Street Park.  With the addition of the ten new cameras, the surveillance area will extend to the MV Coho ferry dock.

I'm cool with that being as I'm never doing anything wrong in that area.

Society is really flawed when you have to put up cameras in a small town.

I like cops a hell of a lot more than idiots and trouble makers so I think it would be cool if they could push a button and drop a cage over them until they can get there.

Not that I'm perfect when it comes to the law, I often don't do complete stops at stop signs to save brakes and gas. :-)

This is almost funny! As if Port Angeles is SO crime ridden, with criminals tearing things apart at such a rate that the existing police force cannot keep up with it all.

Or, is it that the Port Angeles police force is so inept that they need TWENTY EIGHT surveillance cameras within a few city blocks to help them deal with what little crime actually takes place in Port Angeles?

Pathetic.

Billy sez: "The jail is full."

Well, assuming that is true, it is consistent with America as the "Land of the Free", the country that jails the highest percentage of it's citizens.

More than all those "police State" countries like Russia and "human rights abusing" countries like China.

The un-manned drones will be flying over your neighborhood, soon.

For as long as the world keeps making kids like me and Jackson the jails will remain full and the cops will stay employed. LOL

Will the public be able to view these publicly-funded cameras? I'm guessing the answer is no.

Perhaps it is time to start wearing Guy Fawkes masks when we're out and about downtown. I wonder what the tourists would make of that?

It would be cool if we could, then we could help the cops keep an eye on things being as they can't be monitoring them all the time.

It could be like an neighborhood watch thing.

There was a deputy by my place the other evening after I got in a pissing contest with an idiot neighbor that let a child get locked in a running vehicle and was screaming at it, as if that will do any good. Nice guy (the cop, not the idiot next door), I can see why those computers in those rigs can be pretty useful to them.

Shaking your dick at a drone and waving has nothing to do with security.

Sheesh people, did the Jetsons freak you out when you were little? Remember we were supposed to have flying cars? Flying cameras make you pee your pants? Get a grip.

We should install cameras all over city hall so we can make sure these idiots don't keep bilking us out of our tax money.

When will we wake up and say "Enough is enough!" ???

Are we the "government", or are we ruled by the idiots who have taken control?

Only we the people can answer..

It’s funny the City has all this money in the general fund to fund these projects but has no money for the employees who keep the water flowing, streets in repair, sewers and keep the lights on.

Saw the story about these cameras on the Seattle TV evening news.

Made it sound like Port Angeles is a dangerous place.

Great publicity!

Port Angeles is the Authentic Northwest, so surveilance cameras are intended to illustrate just another facet of authenticity, right?
