Derek Kilmer and Bill Driscoll to Debate at Tomorrow's Chamber Luncheon

Tomorrow's Chamber of Commerce luncheon will feature a debate between congressional candidates Derek Kilmer (D) and Bill Driscoll (R), who are running for the seat being vacated by Norm Dicks.  There will be no announcements or introductions during tomorrow's meeting, so the entire hour can be devoted to the two candidates.

Driscoll says it's time to get spending under control (insurance companies take over healthcare, forestry and paper companies take control of public forests, deregulate Wall Street again, more tax breaks for companies that send jobs overseas, tax breaks for Mittens, another giant war or two in the Middle East, anything Bebe, the ultra right in Israel, and the Neo-cons want...) and create jobs. Like the three years of job growth under Obama? Or return to failed policies that got us into this mess? We need more Joe Bidens and Arlen Specters in WA and Port Angeles. For now, that doesn't work for Dems here. They still have trouble finding their spines while rooting and working for the underdogs. And when they do, they are ridiculed, esp. in PA. Funny, how Specter will be known for being Mr. Middle and Mr. Compromise and Mr. Get Things Done when in fact he was motivated by fighting the ultra right wing agenda in the Republican party, the entire time he was in that party, which was most of his career. RIP Arlen. And he was run out of his party, like all moderates. Kilmer is a good guy, and will work for the Democratic agenda and the working people and not LIE about what this country needs. Education, investment in science and energy, TRUE homeland security. Like Biden said, trust your instinct. What party has ALWAYS been against the minimum wage increases, Social Security, and Medicare and Medicaid? Not to mention social issues! WTF is with the Republican Party and women?

Funny, the 20 watt dim bulbs at the PDN will wake up and post a breaking news story on their online front page about a woman (no doubt a 47%er) who glued her kids hands to something somewhere. But a great US Senator, "Snarlin' Arlen" loses his battle with cancer....crickets.

I am a lifelong Democratish liberal, and I will not be voting for Kilmer. Where were the choices on the Democratic side in the primary? There were something like half a dozen Republicans running, but only Duly Annointed Derek on the Democratic side. We had no real choice on the left. He seems incredibly weak, and, given that he was SO clearly The Chosen One, I have to assume he's on a very short leash controlled by someone - Norm Dicks? Whatever, I don't want a goddamn thing to do with him. He smells fishy as hell to me.

We need more construction jobs around here. There is a whole generation that barely missed out on the boom and is just waiting to get a job and hurt their backs and go on disability.

Just saw the new republican ad against gay marriage. Word is that once legalized, those against it can be "punished". I can see it now, we, I mean they, can set up "Punishment Centers" for all the breeders! BAD BREEDERS!!! Being such a macho dude, I wonder what Driscoll's position is on this or more specifically if it's a top issue for him.

"Word is that once legalized, those against it can be "punished"."

Whose word? It was written to allow religious exemptions to SSM ceremonies. In other words, you don't agree with them, you don't have to perform them. There's no witch hunt against people who disagree with Same Sex Marriage. Go ahead. There's certainly a lot of straight marriages I disagree with.

Please. Driscoll claims he's a LIBERAL on social issues. Yet he's running for congress, the most right wing congress in American history, as a Republican, in a Republican party that is the most right wing it has ever been. If he wins, he will run to the right so fast you will not see the move. Because if he doesn't, he will lose the Republican primary in two years...the teaparty will see to that. Furthermore, the next House will send bills LOADED with little social issue zingers. Like he will not vote for those, please. And like he would caucus with the Dems. What a liar. Please. And WTF does being a killing machine have to do with representing our interests in Port Angeles? This is a right wing/big business power grab by a LIAR, hell bent on big defecits, bankruptuing our country, with FEAR, LIES, and more WARS.

Ever read "The Limits to Growth"?

Dated, but relevant.

Someone on CNN just called Mittens "Hall Monitor Mitt". :)

Driscoll - A liar about his position on social issues as he will vote for all Republican/teabag bills, and his economic plan is a one point plan, like Obama said about Mitt's - a one point plan for the benefit the 1% and their overseas trustfunds. Wait till the bill REALLY comes due for the baby boomers, social security, etc., they are already well ahead of the game getting their money out of the US before the great fiscal crash caused by the fact that in 20 years nearly every 47%er in the US will have grey hair. I don't see this guy Driscoll getting elected here in this district/climate but who knows.

No taxes for the ultra rich. No regulations for the ultra rich. No unions and no minimum wage in the world totally controlled by the ultra rich. But you wife will be let off in time to cook your dinner. That's Driscoll's AND the teaparty plan. The 1% plan. Talk about a wolf in sheep's clothing. He's worse than Mittens.
