City Manager Says No Threat to City Water Supply

City Manager Dan McKeen said the city water supply is not in jeopardy; at least not right now.  But he said there are concerns that the sediment level in the Elwha River could cause problems in the future.  He told KONP:

"Water has not been an issue in terms of quality. The issue is: Because we're using the Ranney collector, there is the possibility or likelihood we could be pumping some of these fines down and occluding what would normally, naturally happen and degrade the life of that facility."

Aha, the city is cleverly setting the stage for extorting more money from the feds as "mitigation" for removal of the Elwha dams. The Ranney collector wasn't working at optimal levels even before the river restoration project began. But it still supplies plenty more water than the city's drinking water customers need.
If only the customers in Port Angeles could have gotten a break on their utility bills as a result of all the freebie water facilities the Park Service built for the town. But after millions went toward padding the pockets of public officials and similarly overpaid consultants, ordinary folks just continue to get fleeced.

I have no idea what the Ranney collector is but considering what I've drank over the course of 69 years I'm not going to get all frigging worked up about any of it.

Including the fluoride that so many seem to hate. If you don't like the frigging fluoride brush your teeth with beer. :-)

Don't see much point in fussing about what I drink considering where I've stuck my tongue at times.

Hahahahahaha

8:29 - Oh, don't get so worked up. Didn't you hear? A meth user was arrested yesterday in Clallam. Shows we are getting value our of the $70,000,000 we spend a year on law enforcement in Clallam. I'm sure the utilities here are run with the same customer service attitude.
