Landing Mall for sale

The Landing Mall on the Port Angeles waterfront is for sale.  The 3-story Landing Mall, plus the adjacent building that houses the Chamber of Commerce, has an asking price of $4.4 million.  Co-owner Sarah Cronauer said:

“I feel sad about it in many ways.  The sale has to do with the issues involving my late husband's estate.  I was able to continue Paul's vision for what he had in mind for Port Angeles.  Paul saw that as an anchor to the community.
It would be a lot of fun to continue to develop that.  If I could, I would.”

Sarah is a nice person. Too bad the estate requires the sale.

Hope things work out for her.

Does the price reflect only the value of the building and adjacent structures? Would the buyer have to negotiate separately with the Port or DNR for leasing the underlying tidelands? If so, how much does it cost to lease the tidelands? When does the lease run out?

The PDN finally put up the article about the serial killer that might have come through the area. What a fucking lame paper. Their reporting has been especially lame lately and the reader comments have been especially teabaggerish. Would have been a great article to go out and actually interview someone. I guess they are paranoid as to not be seen as judging and are waiting for the guy's trial, LOL. Coming soon, a poll - "Do you drink water from Lake Crescent"?

BBC - how about we scrap all those terms, and for the purposes of discussing PA, we use the terms "cowboys" and "Indians"?

And what's up with the Port selling the Landing in 07 for just over $700,000? My guess is that commercial real estate has gone down a bit here since "early" 07 and not quadrupled?

What a fucking corrupt bunch of cowboys! And cowgirls!

What a scam!

I pretty much don't agree with any terms as they now are but that is how this country was set up. I think someone should run for office (or we should appoint someone) and should stay in office until the majority calls for a new election cuz they are not happy with that person.

New elections all the time costs the taxpayers a lot of money and the only people making money off them is the fishwraps and sign makers and such.

I don't think the Landing Mall is worth the asking price but I also don't think it was making them much money for the investment so maybe that is why the estate wants to dump it.

It's getting old enough that maintenance expenses will start going up.

Speaking of dumb shit, we sold the old Eagles club to the government for 1.7 million bucks (suckers) and the new club was supposed to be free and clear but they are in deep shit now.

Why? It was built by a committee.

BBC - Good ideas. I'd ad that in the near future, citizens can "legislate" from their smart phones, we can automate as much as we can, rip out as much as we can, and the few that we do re-hire (after we get rid of all those dinosaurs before their retirements kick in) to "administer" things, pay them SQUAT.

Just kidding...or am I?

And, as we see, the BS in Port Angeles continues, with nobody really doing much about it.

Dan Gase runs unopposed. Now he wants to be appointed/annointed early. Why not? What's the difference? Why make him wait? Why bother with an election?

Really, in Port Angeles, why bother with elections?

Do I remember the past correctly? Wasn't it Dan Gase who sent that letter to the Governor during the Graving Dock fiasco? The one that wanted the State to intervene, to get the Indians out of the way so that the Graving Dock project could go ahead?

He demonstrated such concern and compassion for all those remains that were dug up. Such sympathy for those whose family members were being dug up by that machinery.

I have that letter in my files, somewhere.

We see in other towns, in other countries, people take participation in democracy, and the fate of their communities a bit more seriously.

Here, nothing.

7:12 - Interesting about Gase. That's depressing and I too "filed" it away. Thanks.

Speaking of realtors. Heads up PA realtors, Queen Victoria died in 1901.

It's Edwardian. Not even close to Victorian. 3rd grade level stuff. Embarrassing. 99% of our PA Edwardians get listed this way! I know! And it's embarrassing to live in a place, where no one would speak up, and say, hey, dude, that's not Victorian, and they buyer might realize that...just sayin'. And the paint job, a sad echo of a Victorian paint scheme, embarrassing, a giant miss-match. Not even funny....

Going from Max Mania to Dan Gase will be a huge step down in terms of honesty, integrity and intelligence. Which means it's the perfect thing for the dishonest, integrity-challenged and unintelligent city of Port Angeles to do.

A maple went down on marine drive, I suppose if I went to cut it up for firewood the city or port would stop my ass.

I was just looking at that house today. If I didn't already own I'd be interested in it. The owner is asking for a bit more than assessed value though. I wouldn't be surprised if he's underwater on it already. He bought it from Karen Rogers in 2006 at the peak of the real estate market here AND he paid her about $65k over the assessed value at the time. Crazy.

So, the City is promoting ways to keep rainwater from downspouts out of the sewer system in a booth at the County Fair?

How to build rain gardens, after the City Engineer went around town with a Power Point telling people the City HAD to build the $50 million 5 million gallon tank system at Rayonier because the soil types in Port Angeles would not allow rain gardens to be built?

Now the City is giving $500 "rebates" for homeowners to build rain gardens, so as NOT to use the $50 million system that isn't even finished yet?

Does anyone else find this approach just plain crazy? Can't the City decide what the situation really is, BEFORE they spend the big bucks?

Or, is it just about bringing in "grant money" for projects, regardless of whether the projects are actually needed?

See the article about the airport. Port and Lincoln Park. More evidence it is all just about finding ways to get grant money. Continuing declining commercial airplane traffic, but have to get grant money to expand the airport. Hunh?

Then they'll be offering "rebates" to get people not to use the airport, right?
