Port of Port Angeles Chooses Interim Executive Director

Port Commissioners have unanimously selected Ken O’Hollaren as the interim executive director of the Port of Port Angeles.  He will make roughly $11,500 a month (same pay that Jeff Robb was getting) during the six to nine months the Port will take to find a permanent executive director.

Ken O'Halloren is the former Port of Longview executive director.

Same pay that Robb was getting and that Robb is still getting ---- so the public gets to pay $23,000/month now for this package.
Don't forget, the temp guy is coming from Longview, so his compensation will undoubtedly include an additional stipend for living expenses and travel, too. Do you supposed he'd consider being a live-aboard in the PA marina? Some on the job training & familiarization?

One useful thing that has come out of the absence of an Exec Director is that the Port Commissioners have had to openly consider and approve expenses that otherwise would have been rubber-stamped by Robb. Now we peons can get a better glimpse of just how much public money gets spent on "promotional hosting" (fancy meals with wines, etc.) by and for port people: nearly $3000 reported today in the PDN for just a few months' time.

Anybody seen any changes worth speaking of, over the last ??? years? Are we expecting any changes at the Port, any time soon?

Way too much money, and going to an outsider at that when a local boy or gal can do just as good of a job, or better.

The one problem I have with Cherie Kid is that she loves politics and thinks she can make things better that way. After all, she has been in the fucking governors mansion in Georgia, most likely wearing one of her fucking costumes and waving one of her fucking dainty umbrellas.

I get more disenchanted with Cherie with each passing year, what a waste of such a talented lady.

But I guess it isn't all Cherie's fault, after all, her mother did drill into her to fancy herself up and pimp herself.

Not surprisingly, the racists that make up Port Angeles are ranting away.

9:49 - Yes, they are out in full force commenting about Dale.

Notice how quickly the teabaggers are willing to pay her off with taxpayer money. It's not that much money but sounds like a lot. Just enough to piss off their constituents, make people distrust government more, make people distrust "different people" or "outsiders" or FUCKING EDUCATED people even more. Lesson learned!

Our officials will maintain their innocence, and will proclaim (at least at the wine and cheese events) that to fight it, it would be a victory for the "lawyers" and would have cost much more. A win/win for the teaparty! A giant political win! I'm seriously impressed! Bravao! Now go fuck yourselves, teabaggers.

Yeah, all those "teabagger" posts on the PDN whining about the Most Compensated Candidate and her cash in!

Racists!

Educated and progressive "newcomers" like Dale Holiday and Max Mania are the kind of leaders the community needs to move into the 21st century. Unfortunately 19th century thinking still dominates the local culture in Clallam County. In the 19th century, women weren't even allowed the right to vote. And, it was almost unheard of for any female to earn a Ph.D - let alone a woman of color. Society expected married women to relinquish their independent identities and be known only by their husband's surname.
Dale and Max represent a threat to entrenched cultural identities, and so people grasping to hang onto power will do what they can to drive them away. Many in the community understand what Dale and Max are going through and how unjustly they are being treated. I hope they do not choose to abandon their local commitment to public service, even though it can be such a thankless calling.

In response to Anonymous at 3:07 -- I myself am a liberal of the truest order, delighted with progressives coming to town and trying to help, and more than wanting to be friends and help with plans. Unfortunately, being liberal or progressive doesn't necessarily mean one is a good person; and I'm speaking of both Max and Dale. They have both shown themselves total assholes, and it does matter a damn what color they are.

The sooner they leave our town the better. I only hope the damage they've done can be fixed.

The only local politician to consistently speak up for the environment...The only local politician to consistently try and involve citizens in the process of governing...The only council member to consistently vote against stupid, expensive public works projects...The only council member to consistently vote against all kinds of foolish spending and foolish ideas...Yeah, what an asshole. Local progressives will be MUCH better off with Lee Whetham (Who???) or Peter Ripley (What???) in that seat.

Dale should have got a job with the Port. Not only could she have pulled a Robb, but she could have filed for discrimination, too.

Ka-ching and Ka-CHING!

The People of Port Angeles have to take responsibility for who ends up "representing" them. If they fall for the lies and rhetoric put out by candidates who only want to rape, plunder and pillage the community, then they have to accept what they have done.

If it matters to enough people, things will change to represent that desire of the majority.

As we keep seeing, the majority of the people in Port Angeles either outright support rape, plunder and pillage, or don't care enough to do anything about it.

As we see with the Port/Robb fiasco. How blatant was THAT? And what came of it?

As if Max and Dale are the most significant problems Port Angeles has to worry about.

"They" win every time, when we fall for the old tactic of "divide and conquer".
