Should Olympic National Park be Reopened Using State Funds?

The Obama Administration has authorized states to reopen their national parks, but they'll have to use state funding.  Federal funding won't be available until the shutdown is resolved.  Today's Peninsula Poll Question is:

"Should Gov. Jay Inslee reconsider and take the federal offer to reopen Olympic National Park using state funds?"

With 802 votes cast, the results are:

No    67.0%

Yes   28.7%

Undecided  4.4%

At least Washington State isn't falling in line with the FUCKING HYPOCRITICAL TEABAGGERS in Utah etc. who INSISTED on preferential treatment, upon realizing that the feds are the number on employer in such a teabag state. Unfuckingbelievable.

So, for whatever reasons, whether it's dems holding to our position, or our crusty and dwindling conservative population just being conservative and hating the parks in WA like they always will, I'm glad we are keeping our parks closed until the government reopens. Good position all around but an especially good political decision on Inslee's part.

But, it's very weird, and oh-so regional, as tipping points tend to be. Utah gets it's panties in a wad, I haven't heard a peep of a complaint from a single person in Port Angeles. So, I guess the lack of crunched up panties stuck in random ass cracks around here shows we are more economically stable than the average town in Utah or South Dakota - that also happens to sit next to a National Park. And if you take away most National Parks, most of those communities are left with nothing but rocks and sand. IF there are forests in said parks, they are either BURNT, or will be BURNT, and they are highly managed, or they are tick infested and the rivers in them are DEAD. So, yes, rocks and sand. With some rocks and sand thrown in. And if you dig down, you guessed it...more rocks and sand.

Animal lovers into medical marijuana or those that have been wondering, and God knows we will be alone out here on this issue for fucking FOREVER should "Google" Dr. Douglas Kramer. And don't even tell your stupid vet, they just want your money. That's the beauty with MMJ, less $$ for the giant companies and pill pushing doctors.

THIS is how acceptance of MMJ will really spread! People uploading vids of their DYING dog, that suddenly is able to walk again, if for just once more (or a hundred times) to get that ball just once more....sniff, sniff...people, WE are the odd animals....

Plus, and get this, it does wonders for behavioral issues with dogs. Wonder if the guy in Forks figured that out, and the PDN tried to get their teabag teeth in him, before the dogs got/get a steady supply of medicated puppy biscuits? Seriously, this is the future. Someone bring this guy some medicated dog biscuits! (done properly)

Google what happened to Michael Vick's dogs...all of them were able to be rehabilitated. Or nearly all of them. No such thing as a mean dog. :(

And following that logic neither are there any mean goats! Might make the goats in the fucking national park less aggressive, no? Might make them eat more, but WHO CARES??? (ha). Seriously, they would conceivably chomp down on more habitat, but eventually their numbers would dwindle to zero as all the pot will make them GAY!!! ;)

If you want to really bolster your faith in humanity, just wander around the tables at the Crab fest, and see those folks chowing down on food.

Priorities, don'cha know.

It's hilarious that folks ignored the "Barry-cades" and got into the parks and scenic areas anyway.

Thank Allah for O'bammy!

How ironic that the same people (such as Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce members and the PADA) who play to the local's national park-hating mentality most of the time are now whining about the Park being closed and visitors staying away. Is the Olympic National Park vital to the Clallam County economy? Hell, yes it is! So - how about designing a logo highlighting the gateway to the park, instead of a saw blade?

Anon 9:44, THAT is a very good idea!

Doubt it will get anywhere, given how the supposed leadership in this community operate.

To 9:21 am Oct 14 - this is how our leaders operate, hoping our memories fail us. That which was bad 7 years ago is perfectly acceptable today. When you find yourself in a hole, dig deeper.
