Border Patrol Agrees to Terms of Legal Settlement

As a result of a lawsuit filed last April by two Forks residents and a Neah Bay resident, Border Patrol agents based in Port Angeles will share the records of all traffic stops they make for the next eighteen months.  This information will be shared with immigrant advocacy groups.  The Border Patrol also agreed to retrain its agents in the Fourth Amendment.

Well played. This is the beautiful thing about our court system sometimes: it occasionally keeps those with power checked and accountable.

I'm sure the Hispanic guy that lives here, and the 8,000 people that could possibly be mistaken for Hispanic are overjoyed!

So, the city of Sequim cuts builder fees?! Whoopee! It's cheaper to build a house for a future Wal-Mart shopper in Sequim!

But planning to grow anything other than the highly taxed herb in the sun near Sequim? FUCK YOU Sparky!

Tom, what a funny glitch in the spell check (which I like) - if you type Wal Mart, it wants you to make it Wal-Mart. But then, it's not happy with the "Wal". "Awl" is a great option, it has no problem with "Awl-Mart"...LOL Maybe that's how Sean Connery would pronounce it? Who, coincidentally, almost got passed over to play Bond because he was already sort of a "Fauxtino" and the studio was worried audiences wouldn't buy he was Caucasian.

I guess houses aren't being built fast enough in Sequim. Maybe the Obama administration is about ready to make it easier for foreigners to buy houses in the US, and pump up the housing market? "They" love to come over here and buy houses. Just a rumor. Don't panic!

Hmmm. You're welcome.

Upon rereading the PDN article on fees in Sequim, wow!

I think we have a winner for our new Clallam slogan contest! I actually stole this, don't tell anyone:

"Sequim, a fairly good deal"

If we kept it that way, and just ignore Port Angeles in all future Clallam sloganeering, but get PA taxpayers (suckers!) to contribute in paying to promote it, it sort of puts some mystery in PA?

A typical Victorian (lol) would say, hmmm? What's up with that? Does this mean Sequim is trying to emulate Port Angeles, which might in fact be a terrific destination for my tourist dollars, more so than Sequim, and a really good value???

Oh, I get it, never mind, sorry. It's a good deal, compared to Port Townsend. :(

Gotta love the PDN and our local "leaders"...we are "throwing" 30 million people into the health care system.

Freeloaders!!!!

Hey, maybe the community will get more jobs out of it? Ya think?

Fucking morons. (the PDN, not necessarily the hospital dude, who knows what he really said, or what the reporter even wrote, could have been edited out!?)

Watch, tomorrow or the next day...big article...JOBS!! "Will Washington State's already too liberal health care plan for freeloaders, being tweaked by both the fascist and communist at the same time Obamacare, bring jobs to the OMC and Clallam?" Do you think? Next decade (or century): "Are healthier Clallam residents responsible for our taxes finally going down locally"? Sorry, I know, too much. Their heads will explode. (better healthcare also means less doctors - I know, think about it, very profound - healthy people need less medical care) Unless of course, we are assuming we will get doctors that make us less healthy? What if we passed a law, locally, that we could only import doctors that performed hip replacements? Would that satisfy the teabaggers at the PDN?

A joke going around, as teabaggers are signing up for the new "Kentucky Health Care Plan", which is 100% Obamacare, they are saying things like "Wow, this is a much better deal than Obamacare!"

Hey, someone tell one of the brilliant turds on the council that one of these docs might actually buy a house. In SEATTLE...lol...they will fly them in, watch. Won't need all the "support" staff, etc. for their filthy children. Much too complicated, and, more importantly, just creates more "freeloaders" that really can't afford legitimate health care, don't want them moving here, nannies, lawn boys, golf cart mechanics, people like that, already VERY difficult to procure, around here, good ones. Nothing like a good Catholic nanny, or lawn boy. Such value!

And let us not forget, we can bill the docs. for the water they use to wash their hands when they get here. Fly em in, make sure they wash their hands (and each time after they urinate - we can limit their access to toilets to hedge that), they do their thing, get em out, Kenmore makes money, airport stays open, a win/win for everyone.

The article says they are going to INCREASE the number of border patrol agents as a part of immigration reform?

We'll have even more border agents being paid to drive around and do nothing?

Fabulous!

If I made up some Boredom Patrol bumper stickers would anyone buy them for $5 a pop? Just beware it might increase your chances of getting stopped by them...

Port Angeles utility rates set to go up AGAIN??? To an average of over $250 per month per customer???

Does the city realize that this is AMAZINGLY higher than utility rates in most towns of similar size? Does the city council realize that city staff are LYING when they say that the rates in Port Angeles are low?

I really, really DO NOT believe in Agenda 21 or any of that nonsense...But, it sure could seem like the city is trying to make it too expensive to live here, trying to drive people out. Their rates are already ridiculous; proposing to raise them even higher is lunacy.

"get rid of the illegals. they are taking american jobs and sending the money back home"

You do realize that everyone who doesn't shop local is doing the exact same thing? All that money you spend at Wal-mart is going somewhere else.

Utility rates are already ridiculously high thanks to crap like the CSO fee and harbor study fee. Apartment renters typically only pay for electricity but home owners and home renters will have to cough up the cash for this. It's almost as if they're trying to get rid of home owners and turn everyone into renters. I heard that a large percentage of rental homes in PA are owned by people who don't even live here. Apparently it's a great market for renting.

You clearly have never tried to be an employer in certain segments of American society! You cannot PAY Americans to stand in a field, and pick or process crops. I tried to hire only "Americans". The only ones that even showed up couldn't do the work, and left by the lunch break.

If you want to starve, deport all the "illegals".

$12k for 2 guys to work 3 days and come up with a slogan "rough cut, fine grain" and a name change for the PADA from Association to Partnership. That's $2,000 per day and $250/hour if they worked 8 hours each day. How do I get a job robbing small cities like that?

So close, consultant guys, so close. But considering the town, and it's history, and all things Barb Frederick, it should be "Spineless gut, inane,"

Still, so close!

That saw motif for Port Angeles may be descriptive of what Port Angeles really is, but, who really thinks it is an effective sign to DRAW people TO Port Angeles?

"Gee dear, there is this industrial town that is all about carpentry. Let's go THERE for our holidays."

Sure. Why go to Disneyland or Victoria, when you can walk through the industrial portals of Nippon Paper Mill?

It seems like the end result of the bypass. The West end of Sequim got all the big box stores and the full set of off and on-ramps for the highway. The East end of Sequim only has half the set of ramps. That end of Sequim looks pretty sad if you ever drive through it.

7:56 pretty much sums it up. Fucking hilarious!

I think it's embarrassing. First, it's not original. Do a google image search of "rough cut". My first thought, being a giant homo, was like shit, there are going to be pictures of "bears" (big hairy men) that are circumcised! (there weren't) :(

So, both terms are sort of "gay". "Rough" - "Rough Trade". "Cut" - Cut vs un-cut. Combine any two words that are sort of gay, and you get a big gay phrase!

Ok, if you don't feel like doing a google image search, here's the deal. There's a TV show, "Rough Cut". A PBS show about woodworking. Has a neat logo, though not a saw. It's a board, and the type, has been split, like it has been sawn! Clever!

In Pennsylvania there is a media company, called "Rough Cut", they use the saw blade. It's sort of cool, has a "graphic" style, with less teeth, one that a graphic designer would come up with - not one that looks like it was clipped out of the Home Depot ad. Maybe Rough Cut in PA will help the other PA make a commercial! Not!

Oh, "Fine Grain" - awfully gay. So, "Rough Cut - Fine Grain" - gay gay gay gay gay.

And being gay, is it's BEST quality !!!! There is NOTHING wrong with that!! ;)

It's actually HORRIBLE for MANY reasons, but what I just said, just sort of popped out. I hope too many people aren't behind this idea - I wonder what the big cheese thinks? I have a feeling they pumped up this idea for another town, like Forks, it got prematurely rejected, and we got sloppy seconds. Someone needs to get to the bottom of this!

Sarcastic alternate slogans: "Port Angeles - we do have working toilets" ...or "Port Angeles, we flush -(sic) now" ...or "Port Angeles, we'll leave the lid down fer ya" Something like that...

Or we could just go with Rough Cut! Use the "winking" Paul Bunyan, with his flannel shirt on, but buttoned low, exposing his hairy chest, with him tipping his hat, would be cute as shit! It would actually work, if we got a budget Japanese or Chinese advertising agency to do commercials...give them free reign, and tell them we want the commercial to be Japanese anime style...SORT OF...with "cowboy" music (with no explanation beyond that) and we'd have to actually run the ads. Gay bars and antique stores would spring up faster than you can say "When the FUCK is it going to stop raining?"...not saying they would make money, but worth a shot! Many things would happen! Gold would shower down upon us! Not sure what Esprit would think? They might get a little mad, but might make them lighten up a bit too, embrace the gay? Where else would they go?

Oh, when someone tells the Chinese ad agency about Port Angeles, someone needs to tell them that we smoke A LOT of weed, or make that impression, to get more bang for our buck. Give Paul Bunyan glowing red eyes. He's basically a cartoon, but his doobie would be animated, with the white stuff, coming out the tip.

Ok, one more - "Where Shabby Chic Meets the Forest!" I'd say that's a winner, get the antiquing crowd here? Catches the gays too!

Funny, you know what my bear friends say about Port Angeles? Without exception they say "Why do you live there? You should move to Seattle!" Most aren't even willing to visit me here. Yet when I go visit them there's so many bear types around Seattle wearing Carhartts and other redneck style clothes. It's hilarious. And a bit frightening.

There are plenty of days when I think about taking them up on that and hauling my crap over there.

I didn't think my gay friends would go so far with the "Rough Cut, Fine Grain" slogan as anon 2:43. I asked one (slightly bad sample pool here). He was confused by the circular saw and didn't really get the slogan either. I don't blame him. That's my opinion too. What the hell, PADA? I hope you didn't put down any money for that crap.

Oh, and your Paul Bunyan idea? Not bad. But I'm thinking less "anime" style and more "Tom of Finland".

My God, that would freak out the locals!

As if Port Angeles is the only town in the Pacific Northwest that has a history with logging? Or a mill in town?

Yeah, that is REALLY original thinking.

Those consultants were smart guys. They could see the hillbilly chumps they were talking to, and knew just what to tell them.
