Dan Gase Named as Interim City Councilman

Real estate broker Dan Gase has been appointed as the interim city council member from now until the November election.  He will be filling the vacancy created when what's-his-face scampered off with his tail between his legs.

No surprise. But still a loss to have Mania leave. Now the slimy realtors come flooding back. This place is fucked.

Glad to see the real estate office will continue to be well represented. Brooke was such a great council person. I don't know how the city will find a way to function with out her. Compared to Max, she REALLY got things done!

Just another guaranteed yes vote to do whatever staff tells him to do. Like him or not, at least Mania didn't just obey the orders of city staff. He thought for himself, and asked questions. There will be no questions from Gase, just yes yes yes...

Yeah! I can think of all kinds of things Brooke did while on council. She brought up all kinds of new ideas, and really helped the community move forward.

No wonder she didn't run for re-election.

But, with Dan there, all is good. Remember Graving Dock.

A real estate person is going to go with whatever they think will increase real estate sales. Never mind that there isn't the economy to support it all, and isn't going to be.

Brooke didn't run for re-election because she knew she totally stepped in it by trying to smear Max with her stupid, baseless "ethics" complaint. She knew that would be used against her in any campaign, so she cut her losses and didn't go for a second term. Not that it matters, because Gase will be exactly like her, only he has a better haircut.

I heard that investor class realtors all over the country, are going back into politics, now that they can "afford" to pay their buddies that 6% again.

Lovely photo of the cruise ship visitors in PA in the PDN. Their "energy" really comes across!

We should have a caption contest! My entry is "Honey, do you have the suppositories?"

....Max out...Re-Max in...still laughing....OR CRYING!!!!!!!!!

...obviously not his real name now, huh? He used that name, just so someone would someday make that illustrious yet scandalously humorous comment.

Oh, the poor Mania Dead-Enders are in a dither!

I hope Mr. Gase requests a new chair or at least has the one Mania sat in de-loused.

Real estate people get into politics so that they can make things easier for the real eastate business. Rezone properties for higher densities, or get taxpayers to pay for infrastructure that will improve the selling price of lots and developments.

Taxpayer always lose when real estate people are in office.

LOL! Yes. After all the hype about the cruiseships visiting Port Angeles, today's article highlights how little money these visitors spend in town.

Unlike "regular" tourists who stop in restuarants, stay in hotls and such, the cruiseship visitors have all that onboard. They just walk around, looking. Yeah, a trinket here or there, but nothing to keep the town going.

What a waste.

It's pretty humorous that some fool on here refers to "Mania Dead-Enders" when Max showed the only signs of life and thought for years on the council. Everyone but Max seems like dead wood, and real dead-enders. That's why Port Angeles is a dead town, with (see other topic) crumbling streets and zero prospects for growth or success. Port Angeles IS a dead end. No wonder Max got out.

Port Angeles is not a dead town, there's plenty here for us of those that like the things we can do here.

It just has little chance of getting bigger and many of us are thankful for that also.

If you want a bigger town and all that is in it, pick one and move to it.

One thing is certain about Dan Gase: he won't be posting trash talk or snarky comments about his fellow council members or his political enemies on this blog under a variety of thinly veiled yet oh-so-clever aliases.

Unlike the former tenant of Position 2, Max, who did exactly that.

Well Billy, I think there is more to a town than it getting bigger. I totally agree with you about people should pick another town, and move to it. This one is just plain toxic.

Sure, there are things to do in Port Angeles. Sit at the corner of First and Lincoln, and watch the homeless folks mill about, and the ferry traffic head out of town. Or, we can go to the local bar, and bitch about how screwed up this town is. Yeah, fun times!

But, life can be more than just "getting by" in a crappy town with people who make it their lifes' work to keep the town a backwards dive, offering little good examples for young folk.

There are places where people are encouraged to participate in democracy. Unlike here, where the city sues little old ladies for collecting signatures on a petition. What kind of message does that send to our children?

"One thing is certain about Dan Gase..."

I'll have to find that copy of that letter Dan wrote during the Graving Dock fiasco. Choice quotables, if I remember correctly.

Who needs "snarky comments", when you can be outright racist in this town?

PDN didn't publish the letter that I can find but there are few articles about it:

Right, because Dan Gase won't do ANYTHING without permission from his puppet masters. He's a pawn, a tool, and a fool, like the rest of the City Council. Dead weight that is dragging Port Angeles down, down, down.

I had a lengthy phone conversation with Max over the weekend.

Since leaving Port Angeles, Max has had a spiritual awakening filled with profound insights into the human condition and our place within the biosphere. I was filled with awe and, yes, I realized a spiritual epiphany the likes of which I can not describe.

Yes, like Max, I am a different person.

In order to fully actualize his spiritual perfection, Max has changed his name. He is now:

Ma'ax Jah-Nih Rastifarih

Wow...Over a month since Max Mania left Port Angeles, and the troll(s) are STILL obsessing over him. Kind of a testament to his influence, and very much a testament to the pathetic lives such trolls must live. Max got out and got on with his life; the trolls have no lives to get on with.

No wonder Port Angeles is such a wreck. The good and smart people leave, while the clueless, frightened trolls stay put...If not for Tom, they'd have nothing at all to do.

No kidding. It really IS amazing that one person could have such a lasting impact.

You look at the people that have been on the City Council that have cost the local taxpayers so many millions on stupid pet projects (we know the list), but the troll is making sure NO ONE ever thinks of running for city council that might EVER question staff, or the way things "have always been done here".

Hillbilly heaven.

It is amazing what jealousy will drive some people to do. Max made a difference in Port Angeles while he was on the Council. The troll doesn't make a difference, he just farts online.
