Oak Street Property Sale: IXNAY

The purchase of the Downtown Port Angeles Oak Street property by Neeser Construction Inc. of Anchorage has fallen through.  The company withdrew its offer to purchase the 1.96 acre property at Front and Oak Streets for $2 million.

Neeser's offer was withdrawn because the City was unable to meet Neeser’s timeline for a commitment from the city to lease conference space in the proposed building.

It looks like Feiro Marine Center will be remaining at its present location at City Pier.

Did anyone seriously believe that this deal would go through? Better that the scheme goes belly-up at this stage rather than painfully stringing the gullible along with pie in the sky happy talk.

Reading the squabbling and finger-pointing going on in that article is just pathetic. No wonder nothing ever gets done in this town.

Not to be too picky, but the article says the price was $1.5 mil, NOW listed at $2 mil.

I thought McClaskeys' comments were right on. He sees the reality of the current situation in this town.

The project proposed t create more retail space in an area already awash in vacant retail space.

Geeezz. If the City wants a convention Center, why doesn't it buy the Lincoln, and create one.

Not that I think it would "pencil out" any better than the one they wanted to build a few blocks away, on Oak St.

Been down at the waterfront, lately? The near famous "Port Angeles Wind Tunnel" has been treating any poor fool that ventures down there to it's joys. And, have you seem the color of the water?! Gross!

When the City builds the beaches down there, will all the down wind places get their windows replaced each year, after being sand blasted? New paint on everything?

Yeah, this City just comes up with ideas, and proceeds without much thinking, and we pay the costs.

A far-fetched plan designed primarily to enrich a certain Real Estate Republican on the Council. Watch for more downtown dirty deals involving Dan "Conflict of Interest" Gase and the Council That Has No Shame, coming to an inflated piece of downtown property soon!

Yeah, I was down at the waterfront Sunday, around noon. The few people I saw, waiting for the ferry, had winter coats on, with their collars up, and hoods on. The sun was shining, and the wind relentless.

Nobody stuck around for very long. That wind is really crazy down there!
